Hi I'm Mike Miller

I was born and lived in Canada for 55 years. I am now retired and living in the south western United States. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in a small city in western Canada. I am the oldest of four boys in my family. My mother comes from a family of Mormon pioneer heritage. My father was a Scots Presbyterian. He and I were baptized members the church the same day and when I was 8 1/2 years old. I met my wife as we attended university in dental school. We have now been married for 43 years and are the parents of five children. I practiced dentistry in Canada for 30 year and then retired to the southwest area of the United States to be near our children. They had all come to USA to pursue careers and two of them married US citizens. I now enjoy working in business with my sons and helping them in their businesses. My wife and I are loving semi retirement and even get in the occasional golf game!

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon for many reasons. I grew up in a small city where there was a very heavy Mormon influence. Even though my father was not a member he attended the Mormon church every Sunday. My mother was a faithful member of the church. After my baptism I grew up with LDS friends doing all the normal teenage activities of the time. I think the real defining moments in my life came as I served my 2 year mission in London, England. It was there that I read and studied and prayed about my relationship with the Savior. My prayers were answered and I could say that I knew God lived, that Jesus was the Christ , the Savior of us all and that today there are living prophets on the earth who continue to reveal God's will. I also came to know that the Book of Mormon is the word of God and a companion volume of scripture to the Bible. This knowledge brings peace to me in a troubled world.

How I live my faith

I am an active participant in my church and community. I was a Scouts Canada volunteer for 30 years in Canada working with both the youth and adult leaders. Now that I am a US citizen I am involved with adult training with the Boy Scouts of America. I have served in many different callings in the Mormon church. The great majority of them have been with the youth. Over the years I have been able to attend world and national as well as local scouting events in many different countries and locations. Currently I serve in a stake presidency where I have the opportunity to speak in church services and work with various groups in the local congregations. I enjoy my life. My wife and I have great neighbors. Although we live in a large city the neighbors make it feel like we live in a small town. We enjoy the diversity of the community. It is also great to be closer to our kids and grandkids.
