Hi I'm Nelly

I live in Germany and I am a young mother. I'm Mormon.

About Me

I love to read, mainly novels but I also like biographies and popular science books. I play the recorder and the flute and just love singing in the choir. I studied physics. Now, I am married and a young mother of a little girl. She is a darling, but right now my whole world just revolves around her. I also like animals. I've had budgies and rats. But had close contact with cats, dogs and horses as well. I especially love rats, because they are very smart and cute animals, despite what most people think. While still in school I took part in an exchange program and spent ten months in the USA. It was a great adventure and an experience that changed my whole live.

Why I am a Mormon

It started with becoming an exchange student to the USA. I know that the Lord guided me to take this step (I would never had let strange people in our apartment - the Mormon missionaries wouldn't have had a chance to talk to me). I am usually not that adventurous but I knew that I had to go. An LDS family chose me to stay with them. I was determined that I would treat them as I would treat my family and share everything of their family life. So, naturally I went to church with them. In the beginning I didn't understand a thing, but with time learned more and more about their faith. I am not somebody who asks a lot of questions and rather learn by observing. There were many things throughout that year that strengthened my budding testimony. Like hearing the loving voice of Thomas S. Monson on CD. I didn't knew who was talking, but that voice just touched my heart and continues to do so to this very day. I know that he is a true prophet of the Lord. I went on a youth activity where we went on a trek like the pioneers of old. We wore homemade clothes and slept in the open. We pulled handcarts and learned a lot about the history of the early church pioneers. It was very cold, but there I first started to read the Book of Mormon and suddenly I felt so warm and full of light. During the remainder of that year I read it all the way through and asked Heavenly Father whether it was true. The feeling was the same and I just knew. I also had the privilege to visit a Temple. While I couldn't go inside, I still felt the holiness of that place just by standing on Temple ground and a wish started to grow in me, that I one day will get married in the Temple. At the end of that year I wanted to get baptized. Of course, my parents asked me to come home, first, investigate the church here. I did that and one year later, I joined the church and have loved every moment since then. And my dream came true as well, I got married in the Temple a little while ago.

How I live my faith

I've just been called to teach the children in our branch. We don't have many children there, but for me it still is a challenge, especially with a little one of my own. I love them very much and really want them to know that Heavenly Father and Jesus love them and will always be there for them. I grow a lot teaching them and realize again and again that Heavenly Father's plan for us is not difficult to understand and that children can and do understand it well.
