Hi I'm Skyler

I was born in Utah, but raised in Arizona. I'm married with 3 kids and currently a Grad student in Accounting. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I use to be an extreme sports enthusiast (skateboarding and snowboarding in particular) until getting married and having children has sort of kept me grounded. I also enjoy playing basketball and football, although I am mostly limited to just watching it nowadays. Most of these hobbies have taken a back seat while I am a Graduate student obtaining a Master of Accountancy. I have aspirations to become a CPA and work in the Public Accounting sector. But, most importantly, I am the husband to a beautiful wife and the father of three wonderful children. At times it may feel like we have a lot on our plate; however, my wife and I have "three" of the best reasons in the world to stay motivated and keep pressing forward.

Why I am a Mormon

I come from an ancestry line tracing back to the pioneers who made the journey out West to the Salt Lake Valley. Although I was raised a Mormon by my parents in the LDS Church, I will never forget the time I was able to gain a testimony for myself of my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Reading the scriptures and praying for truth have been instrumental in becoming who I am today. I know that God truly does answer prayers. I have enjoyed so many blessings in my personal and family life by living the Gospel teachings of Jesus Christ. I know that the Lord has restored His church upon the Earth through the prophet Joseph Smith, just like in ancient times (God is the same yesterday, today, and forever). I am so thankful that God has provided us with living prophets to help us along the way. The Gospel is True!

How I live my faith

I strive to live my faith through serving others with love. I was blessed to have had the opportunity to serve a 2-year mission in Mexico City. I truly learned to love the people I was serving and enjoyed seeing how a simple act of sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ can change someone's live forever. It is true that to love someone, you must learn to serve them. The more I strive to serve others, then the happier I become. My wife and I attend a ward (congregation) that is essentially made up of students all living in university family housing. It has been a great opportunity to serve and befriend so many people in our ward and in our local community who are all going trough similar life situations (family, work, and school).
