Hi I'm Chip

I grew up in Mesa, Arizona. I work in our family-owned building supply business doing accounting & IT. I'm a dad. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have lived in Arizona most of my life. I met my sweetheart, Erin, while attending BYU. We were married in 1999 and now have six beautiful children. I graduated from BYU with a masters degree in accounting and a minor in information systems. I currently work at our family-owned building supply company and have the opportunity to be involved in many aspects of the business--technology, accounting, marketing, human resources, safety, etc. When I'm not at work, I like to be at home with my kids. My favorite thing to do with them is teach them the satisfaction of working with your hands. We do this by taking care of our property along with our cows and chickens. It's hard work, but it's also a lot of fun!

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up as a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. However, that is not why I am now a member of the church. I'm a Mormon because of the feelings I have when I pray to ask My Heavenly Father to help me know if the Book of Mormon and the Bible are true, to know if Joseph Smith is one of His prophets, and to know if this church is His church. Heavenly Father has answered my prayers and I know that the feelings I have deep within my soul come from God. These feelings are the Holy Ghost confirming in my mind and my heart that the Book of Mormon and the Bible are His words, that Joseph Smith was called to be a prophet in these latter days and that this church is the only true church. I know that I can enjoy eternal happiness by living my life in harmony with the teachings that come through a living prophet and through the scriptures.

How I live my faith

Most of my adult life, I have had the opportunity to serve with the young men in my ward as a scoutmaster. It has been an incredible experience to get to know a lot of great young men who are striving to do what's right and live the Gospel. As boy scouts, we spend time working on merit badges, learning to tie knots, camping, etc. All of these activities are fun and beneficial. However, and most importantly, they help us to learn more about ourselves, to develop character and ultimately to become more like our Savior, Jesus Christ. There's a lot of time and effort that goes into being a scout leader, but it is all worth it because of the growth I see in these young men as well as in myself!
