Hi I'm Curtis

I'm a Mormon. I am VERY happy to be a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. My membership is a treasure.

About Me

I'm an average American; happy, well-educated, and doing my best to contribute to my family, my country and the faith of my fathers. I like wood working, photography, world travel, teaching and music. I like my music LOUD...especially Rachmaninov.

Why I am a Mormon

Although I was born to parents who were members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, as I grew older I had to gain my own conviction about the beliefs they taught me. While still a young boy, I moved with my family to Oklahoma where our faith was definately among the minorities of the Christian religions in that part of the country. It was then that my faith was tried. But in the coming years I came to know for myself that His, (Christ's) way, as taught by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, is the only way to lasting peace and joy. To this day, I have never found a better way to live and be happy. The Mormon Church continues to encourage everyone to seek for truth and beauty where ever it is found. Some may see the tennants of the Church restrictive. I am part of the millions who have found an emancipating life in applying the standards and doctrine espoused by the Mormon Church. The Savior said the truth will make us free. That is true. Anyone who loves Jesus Christ or wants to know more about Him, will find, as I did, the Spirit of Christ in the Book of Mormon; the same that comes from a sincere reading of the Bible. I am a Mormon because I want to learn all I can about my Savior and Redeemer. The Bible, and the Book of Mormon confirm to me that Jesus Chirst is the literal Son of God the Father and that He loves me and died to save all mankind from sin and death. I invite anyone reading this to try an experiment; an experiment with the Book of Mormon. Get a copy of the Book of Mormon. Read the story of its origin in the beginning pages. You will find that it was not written by Joseph Smith, but translated by him from an ancient record. Then place your trust God. Near the end of the book (Moroni 10: verses 3-5) is a promise from God that as you read with a prayful, sincere heart, you will know that it is of God, by the very Spirit of God. Who better to ask than God himself? You will be so pleased, so happy.

How I live my faith

The way I move forward in my faith is to experiment on the words of Christ. I trust Him and our Heavenly Father. I am willing to step into territory I have not ventured into before because I now know that by following Christ, I always come to joy. The other great thing I have discovered is that in living the principles taught in the Bible and the Book of Mormon, I progress in loving my brothers and sisters of the world and I gain peace in ways nothing else can deliver. When people ask me why I am so happy and why I appear to be content, I want to say, "I know something that can only come through desire, faith and sacrifice. Following this pattern has made all the difference."
