Hi I'm Richard

I'm a Mormon and have been all my life.

About Me

I grew up in a small town in Utah, and was blessed with many great friends who were good examples for me. I learned the importance of work, study, and always striving to do your best. I served in the Army Reserve after High School graduation and following basic training in California, I returned and served as a Full-Time Missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Brazil, where I lived for 2 1/2 years. These were special years in my life, as I met with many individuals of various faiths. Upon returning from Brazil, I entered the Univerity of Utah, where I filled the requirements for Dental School. While there, I dated and married my dear wife. I completed my DDS degree at the University of Washington. We remained in Washington, where I practiced dentistry for 33 years, and loved it! My wonderful wife of 47 years and I have 5 married children and 19 grand children.

Why I am a Mormon

As a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, I know the purpose of life and the importance of Jesus Christ and His atoning sacrifice. I also know where we came from, why we are here on earth, and what happens when we die. I know that Our Heavenly Father lives and he loves each one of us. His desire is that we be happy, and he has given us guidelines to follow that will allow us to achieve joy on this earth and eternally. I know the importance of family, and want to be with them now and forever. I have read, studied, and pondered His words in the Bible and Book of Mormon. Most importantly, I have prayed to know of the truthfulness of the Book of Mormon and have received my personal assurance, through the influence of the Holy Ghost, that it is true. These and many more truths help me to have the peace and knowledge that Heavenly Father lives, He loves us, and wants us to return to him one day. As I have studied and followed His words, lived as I should, loved and served others, made and strived to keep sacred commitments, I have gained a conviction that The Church-of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is His true Church. It has the same orgainzation that Jesus Christ organized when He was upon the earth which included a Prophet to lead His children and 12 apostles to help teach and guide them. All of this, and much more too lengthy to write here, has helped me to know of His truths and that they are all found in His Church, known by His name... The Church-of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

How I live my faith

I try diligently to understand what Jesus would have me do and say. He is my example to follow. I have served in many ways in the Church, including the leader over 5,500 members in our area. I have given many talks to thousands, taught youth as well as adults, visited the sick and downtrodden. All of this service has been done willingly, and without monetary payment. I strive to be a good neighbor and member of my community and nation. I have given many hours of service, including free dentistry to the needy, Most importantly, I work to be a good husband, father and grandfather. This brings me the greatest of joy and The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints helps me with the teachings and guidelines that Our Heavenly Father would like me to follow. I work hard to be honest, true, chaste, benevolent, and in doing good to all. I constantly give thanks to Our Heavenly Father for my many blessings in my daily prayers.
