Hi I'm Dawson

I grew up in the Church in Arizona. Staying faithful to the gospel has benefited my life immensely. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

After many years of schooling I am finally done. I just graduated with a Master's degree and I am now trying to become a CPA. During my college years, I was married to my lovely wife and we have been together nearly five years. We are living proof that blind dates can work. I love sports. I play basketball as much as I can and watch nearly anything that can be considered a sport. I recently bought a harmonica and I am doing my best to make it sound like I know what I am doing, but that may take a while. The Lord has truly blessed me and I am so grateful that I have so many blessings in my life.

Why I am a Mormon

The reason why I became a member of this church is because of my parents. They raised me in the LDS church. The reason why I am still an active member in the church is because I received confirmation from Heavenly Father letting me know that this is the true church. There comes a point in every person's life when he/she needs to know if a major commitment in their life is worth living up to every day. When I was baptized at eight years of age, I didn't fully understand what I was promising to do. As I grew up and realized that no everyone lived the way I did I started to question why I did the things I did. The church's teachings had always been present in my life and I obeyed them, but I didn't know why. I started to read the scriptures more and I prayed and desired to know the truth. I received confirmation one evening that was so strong, it woke me from my sleep. The spirit testified to me that Joseph Smith restored the true church to the earth and that I was a member of that church. With this knowledge, everything else fell into place. If Joseph Smith was a true prophet, then the Book of Mormon was true. If he was a true prophet, then the true church of Christ had returned to the earth. As I continued to live the teachings of the church, I started to realize how much our Heavenly Father loves us and helps us in this life. Some people look and parents' warnings and rules as restrictive and hindering, but I know that God has given us warnings and rules that will not restrict our lives here on earth but enhance them. I know that this church is true and I am grateful that I was born to parents that understood its goodness and cherished its teachings.

How I live my faith

I have had the opportunity to do many things in the church. The last responsibility I had in the church was teaching the 5 year old children every Sunday with my wife. It always amazed me what they remembered and the things that they could tell me about the church. Their parents had raised them in a Christ centered home with the scriptures being read daily and it was a blessing for me to help teach them the gospel of Jesus Christ. It was hard to keep their attention and I often thought they weren't listening to anything I said. One day I was talking to the father of one of the children and he told me that every Sunday after church his son would tell him everything he learned in our class. The dad told me every lesson we had for the last month that he son taught him about and I knew that the time I spent preparing lessons and teaching the children was well spent.
