Hi I'm Sarah

I'm a full time college student and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm currently a full time college student. I love writing, reading, music, traveling, hiking and other outdoor activities such as swimming. I've been to Germany, Austria and Hungary and I love learning about history. I write novels for young adults and hope to one day write on the side and earn some money from it.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into the gospel and I've always loved it. However, as I got older and got into high school, I really wanted to have my own testimony of whether or not it was the true gospel. I didn't want to be someone who continued to ride on my parent's testimony. So I read the Book of Mormon for myself early on in my high school career. As I read it, I began to notice all the wonderful things God has given me; a home, a family who loves me, an opportunity to go to a school that had high quality programs to benefit my learning style....I saw God's hand in nature, and the more I paid attention to the little things in life, I could see the hand of God in my life. When I completed the Book of Mormon and prayed to know for myself that it was true, I almost immediately could feel God's answer through the Holy Ghost that it is true. Since then I have strived to strengthen my testimony. I know that His Church is true. I know that Joseph Smith was called to restore the gospel of Jesus Christ on the Earth. I am so grateful for Christ's atonement and that he sacrificed himself for me so that I may return to live with my Heavenly Father again. I know that He lives and that He will come again. I am so grateful for the gospel and I never want to live without it because it has brought me so much happiness and more than anything I want others to experience the joys of the gospel.

How I live my faith

Throughout the years I've served my Church in multiple ways. I have served as a leader over girls ages 12-18 by being a friend to them, organizing activities that are not only fun but also invite the presence of the Holy Ghost. I have also served on a Youth Conference Comittee in which the objective was to put together a weekend-long camp in which youth 14-18 attended. We put together things like service projects, activities such as dances, and testimony meetings and workshops designed to help the Youth gain a stronger testimony. I have also participated in multiple service opportunities, such as helping with the Blood Drive on campus, helping out at the Food Bank and Bishop's storehouse, visiting the retirement home, helping members (and non members) who are in need and other activities. I love teaching, both in church and at school and have always volunteered to take over the lesson should a teacher need a substitute. Currently I help lead the music during the third hour of church which is such a great opportunity because I love music and I especially love the messages in the hymns and so every Sunday I get to share my love of music to others. It may not be much, but I believe that music has the power to do things that often times words cannot and I am so grateful for that opportunity to demonstrate that belief every Sunday. There are so many opportunities and I've only just started! Through serving in church and in the comunity, I can be an example of Christ and even if I'm not verbally proclaiming my testimony I believe that through my example I can share my testimony and bring happiness to others.

Do Mormons regard the Bible as Holy Scripture and the word of God?

Sarah
We definitely believe that the Bible is the Word of God! As long as it is translated correctly of course. The Book of Mormon is another testament of Jesus Christ and his teachings and ministry. I love the Bible as much as the Book of Mormon! I love reading through the Old Testament--there is SO much history there and the stories give me strength. I ADORE the New Testament as well; Christ is the foundation of our religion and I love to read his sermons and the stories of His life and of his sacrifice and resurrection. The Book of Mormon only strengthens my testimony of the Bible and I treasure them both. Show more Show less
