Hi I'm Nancy

I am a daughter, a sister, a wife, a mother of two and a grandmother of nine. I am a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in New England, a true Yankee that loves clam chowder and architecture. My husband and I moved to the southwest 30 years ago where we have raised our family. We love the people here, the mild winters and desert flowers. I love quilting, needlework, cooking, graphic design and reading stories to my grandchildren. I taught my mother to quilt and helped her design more than 20 quilts. I worked part-time for most of my married life until I retired recently to become a care giver to my mother who recently passed away. My life has always revolved around my family.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised as a Mormon in New England and was the only member of the church in my high school until my brother became a freshman and joined me in school. I remember loving the feeling I had when I went to church and felt the Spirit there. When I was 18, I spent a semester studying the Book of Mormon and took Moroni's challenge to ask with a sincere heart if the things I had been reading and studying were true. I knelt at the side of my bed and prayed to my Heavenly Father about the Book of Mormon. I had a sweet, warm, beautiful feeling come over me and I knew in my heart that the Book of Mormon was true and Joseph Smith was a prophet of God that had restored the church in these latter days. My testimony has grown with each act of service and with each trial of life when I have turned to my Savior for help. I have learned that I can do hard things and that all is possible through my obedience to the commandments and my willingness to serve the Lord.

How I live my faith

I presently teach the four and five-year olds on Sunday mornings. I love the children. I love the creativity of preparing a lesson and I love the way the children are so eager to learn and participate in class. They are a whole lot of fun. Class time is always an adventure. They keep me young!

What blessings can you receive from reading the Book of Mormon, the Bible, and other scriptures?

I was once challenged to read the Book of Mormon from cover to cover within a certain time frame and that as a result of my reading, I was promised that I would have a desire to be a better person and that my family would get along better. No sooner had I finished reading, without actually thinking about it, I felt a desire to be more obedient to the commandments and to want to be closer to my Father in Heaven; to do good works. It was a powerful, real feeling. Show more Show less
