Hi I'm Jon

I am a husband, a father, a former athlete, an Optometrist; I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Growing up in the military I was able to see many parts of the world and enjoy things other cultures had to offer. Still, I find it most enjoyable being out in nature where it is peaceful and quiet or spending time with my family. I enjoy learning, fixing things, playing sports, and living a non-hectic lifestyle. I have served a mission for my church in Germany, attended various colleges, and now enjoy helping people see better as an Optometrist. I have a loving wife and two wonderful little boys.

Why I am a Mormon

Although I grew up in the church, I am not a Mormon merely due to tradition. The gospel taught in this church truly brings happiness. This is because it is based on eternal truth. There is no better set of circumstances to raise a family in. The good that comes from living this way is evidence in itself, but I have come to know through study and prayer that it truly is of God. For these reasons and many more, I'm a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I try to live my faith by following the example of Jesus Christ. I strive to be the best person I can at home, work, church, and in the community. This often means getting out of my comfort zone and reaching out to others. I have learned that it is much more fulfilling to serve others than to serve yourself. Since I often fall short, part of living my faith also means repenting. Recognizing my shortcomings and trying to improve, with divine help, brings me closer to my goals. The church currently gives me the opportunity to help teach and participate in activities with the youth. They are really great to work with. I am sure more opportunities for growth will come.
