Hi I'm Havi.

I was born and raised on the South Pacific Island of Tonga. I am a high school math teacher and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I taught high school and college math and science for over 35 years and am now retired. I have a wonderful wife, five children, and thirteen grandchildren. I enjoy spending time with my family and studying the scriptures and books about our prophets. I also enjoy meeting people and making new friends. I am also the official "umu" (underground oven) chef of the community and surrounding area and enjoy sharing my talent and skill with others.

Why I am a Mormon

I belong to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints because I have a fervent testimony that this is the true church on the earth today. I believe it is the restored church of Jesus Christ. I have a testimony of the first vision of Joseph Smith and know he saw God and Father and His Son, Jesus Christ. I know that the Book of Mormon is the word of God. I have read and studied the book many times. I have prayed to know of the truths it teaches and the Holy Ghost has revealed to me that it is true. I believe in the restoration of the priesthood by divine authority, namely Peter, James & John, and have been a witness to blessings recieved by the laying on of hands of those holding this priesthood. I also believe that there is a living prophet on the earth today, President Thomas S. Monson, who guides and directs the church and its members through direct revelation from God, as did ancient prophets.

How I live my faith

I strive to keep the commandments of God as best I can. I attend my church meetings every Sunday and attend the temple often. I try to be a good example to others and be kind and good to all people. I pray diligently every day and study the scriptures faithfully. I enjoy sharing my testimony with others of what I know to be true and things I learn in my studies. I also participate in community projects such as boy scouts, city clean-ups, and other community and volunteer activities. Currently, I am teaching missionary age youth in the near-by wards how to be effective missionaries and visit eight different families monthly as my home teaching assignment. I make the best effort I can to live worthy of our Heavenly Father's blessings. I live by a high moral standard and teach my children and grandchildren to do the same. I belive it is critical to set this example and teach the rising generation such virtues. I have a firm testimony of Jesus Christ and His reality. I love Him and want to do only those things that draw me closer to Him.
