Hi I'm Rachel

I'm a Mormon, and I'm an English major at BYU.

About Me

Hey, I'm Rachel. I'm 19 years old, and a sophomore at BYU. I love to perform, both in theater and choir. I am an avid reader, which is why I am now an English major. I plan to go to law school to pursue a career in family law, working to keep struggling families together. My favorite movies are Disney classics, like The Lion King and Aladdin. I love to be with my friends in the great outdoors.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon because I know that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is true. It's as simple as that. Being a member of the Church helps me understand my purpose in life, and why I'm here. I want to do what is right, and the Church helps me and supports me in that desire by giving me guidelines to follow in order to help me follow Jesus Christ. I know that He lives and loves me, and wants me to live with Him again someday. I know that I am a daughter of God, and I have a divine role while I am here on the Earth. I know that if I want to return to my Father in Heaven after my time here is done, I have to live my life to become the kind of woman my Heavenly Father would have me be. In simpler terms, I am a Mormon because I want to be good and live with my family and my Heavenly Father for eternity. And I know that by following the teachings of Jesus Christ and being a member of His church, I can.

How I live my faith

My favorite way to live my faith is to give service. As a Church, we are all about charity and service. We plan and participate in service projects all the time. I've helped to build nature trails in the open spaces around my city, beautify schools and public places, put together care packages for members of the Armed Forces, and assemble hygiene kits to be sent to disaster victims. Within the Church, I've been a leader for younger girls at our annual Girls Camp, played the piano for many youth meetings, and served on a committee planning activities for the youth in the Church and their friends in my area.

Are Mormons Christians?

Yes, Mormons are Christians. The name "Mormon" is a nickname for our church. The official name is The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Being a Christian means that you believe in Jesus Christ, and since the name of our church includes the name of Jesus Christ, we proudly proclaim that yes, we do believe in the Savior Jesus Christ.
