Hi I'm Doug

I'm a Mormon. I grew up in my faith, but I know for myself it is true. I find happiness in living the gospel of Jesus Christ.

About Me

I work with people with disabilities to help them obtain employment. I have been happily married for four years and my wife and I are getting ready to adopt a child. I enjoy reading, camping, hiking, gardening, and spending time with my wife and friends.

Why I am a Mormon

Through reading the Book of Mormon, I have come to know that Jesus Christ is my Savior. I feel God's spirit in my life when I read it and apply its teachings which are the teachings of Jesus Christ and the prophets he called to teach the ancient peoples of the Americas. Because of this, I also know that Joseph Smith was a prophet whom God called to translate the Book of Mormon by the power of God and that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is God's kingdom on the earth. God continues to call prophets to teach us what God wants us to know in our times, for which I am grateful.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by serving my fellow men and women. Recently our congregation met together to identify people in need of help and divided into groups to help those people. My wife and I went to one family's home to help them paint their deck. Other groups helped widows and single mothers clean their homes and yards. Twice a year we have the opportunity to hear from the prophets that God has called to lead his Church in our day. We listen to their words and apply their teachings so that we can avoid sin and sorrow and find happiness and joy in this life and in the life to come. I feel God's love for me as I obey his commandments, serve others, and listen to his prophets.
