Hi I'm Alisha

I grew up in Colorado with 7 siblings. I was home schooled through high school and then got myself through college. I am a Mormon.

About Me

I love serving and being active. Right now I work as a childcare provider. I have always loved working with children. This is another chance I have to serve those precious to our Heavenly Father. I graduated a year and a half ago with a Bachelors degree in Child Development with a minor in Spanish. This has provided me with opportunities to help others. I particularly am interested in, and absolutely love, helping and serving children in need. I always love spending time with my family of 10 playing games, hiking and camping, and simply sitting around the dinner table talking! I enjoy snowboarding, jet skiing, and doing many other outdoor activities. A wonderful opportunity I had to serve was during the summer of 2009, in El Salvador, Central America with a nonprofit organization called Help International. My passion was working in orphanages and a boys' home and teaching English. To work with the people in El Salvador, and especially those children who had so little but were so happy to just be them, helped me realize even more how blessed I am and just how much Heavenly Father loves all his children of every nation and ethnicity. I have helped with Special Olympics a few times now and I love every time I have the chance to do this. Working with these individuals makes me so happy. I take each chance I can to serve Heavenly Father's children because it is such a fulfilling part of my life and I know we are His hands on this earth.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because it gives me direction and purpose to my life. Especially going through my young adult years, the lessons I have learned since I was a little girl have become even more crucial to my happiness. So many questions as to the purpose of what I am really doing in my life can sometimes make me start to falter and bring me down, but as soon as I focus again on what is most important- the gospel and my family, I am instantly lifted. Whenever I read the scriptures, especially the Book of Mormon, or listen to or read the words of our living prophets, I immediately feel peace and happiness. I am a Mormon because I know the gospel is the whole truth. The gospel makes me happy. I know the teachings and blessings of the temple are true and I love being there and feeling so close to the Savior and our Heavenly Father. I know the priesthood is the power of God on earth today. I know families can be together for eternity. I love my family and this truth is especially precious to me. I know when we pray Heavenly Father hears us and he will answer our prayers. I love being a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints!

How I live my faith

I serve as a counselor in the church’s women's organization. I love working with and serving the women in my area. Other than that, I just simply try to live my life the way Heavenly Father would have me. I try to be an example to others through being as Christ like as possible.
