Hi I'm Jim

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was baptized at age 15 because of the positive influence of some friends. There weren't very many members where I lived and I am still the only member of the church in my family. What might make me a little unusual is because my wife and I (after raising 5 children) adopted 7 children, who are now all members and have been sealed to us in the temple. When people ask us why we took on such an undertakeing we usually smile, because most people would not understand. My wife and I feel that we had received inspiration (the thought came to us, we prayed about it and had a really good feeling) to bring other childen into our home. Children that would otherwise have stayed in foster care because of their age and or behavior. The ages we adopted at were 3, 5, 8, 8, 12, 12 and 12 years old. They are now 8, 15, 17, 18, 20, 22 and 24. I collect coins, love to fish, camp and hunt, but devote most of my time to my family and church. I have a love for the scriptures, for they testify and teach of Christ and his love for us. My favorate verse: Alma 42:15.

Why I am a Mormon

Here are some scriptures that have caused me to consider why there is so much confusion in the Christian world. Gen 1:26 "And God said let us make man in 'our' image, after 'our' likeness." Who was God speaking to? His Son Jesus Christ, because He was with God in the beginning. 2 Peter 1:20-21, 1Peter 4:6, 1Corinthians 15:40-42, John 17:20-21, 1Cortinthians 11:3. No one in any other church could answer these questions I had. Most importantly the priesthood power could not be answered to me in Acts 8:5-17 (it took the apostles to lay their hands on the Samaritians in order for them to be able to recieve the Holy Ghost; not before) and where is this eternal priesthood that is spoken of in Heb 6:20 and 7:1-11. (Gen 14:18). I know this church is true. I know that the scriptures (New and Old Testement) prove this church and that the "Book of Mormon" is another testament of Christ and is the word of God also brought to us by revelation in these the latter days. This is why we are called "The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints." Study on these scriptures and finding one answer why I am a Mormon.

How I live my faith

My family attends church every Sunday. We read and study scriptures together and commit ourselves to our duties in the church so that we are able to serve our fellow man. I try to set a good example for all I come in contact with, especially to my family. I believe Christ is the head of this church and created everything in this world by the direction of his Father, who is God. (1Corinth 15:27, John 5:19, 8:28, 16:28, 20:21, Rev 1:6) He has set the example as to how we should live our lives and treat each other. I do my best to follow His example and to continue to learn of Him in order to better myself. All He did was out of LOVE for mankind and to teach us eternal truths. So, we must show forth love to one another. Not being perfect, I try to do all I can for Him, as James has said in James 2:17-20, basically that faith "causes" action.
