Hi I'm Elise

I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, commonly known as a Mormon.

About Me

I received my degree in Nursing and currently practice in a hospital setting. I have been married for 6 1/2 years; we put each other through school, and are actually still putting him through more school. I love to travel. I traveled growing up and it's a passion I have continued to pursue. I played soccer for 12 years growing up, and enjoy playing many different sports. My husband and I enjoy being active and outdoors. I love being around and meeting new people. I would like to think I'm talented with crafts although I'll admit it's definitely a work in progress. I enjoy reading, watching movies, and spending time with my family.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised in an LDS family and have been a member of this church my whole life. Although I never doubted the church was true, when I was a teenager, I wanted to know for myself; I needed to know for myself. This gospel isn't something you can just be a part of without really knowing it's true. In order to live it and be blessed to the fullest, you have to have a personal testimony of it. I began to read the Bible and Book of Mormon more sincerely than I ever had before. The Bible and Book of Mormon are companion scriptures; they complete each other. I began to live by the principles that are taught therein and prayed for a testimony. God answers prayers, no matter who you are. He answered mine. My life, my attitude, and my happiness changed as I lived the principles and values of the gospel. Since then, I still feel the Holy Ghost or Holy Spirit in my life on a regular basis. I have developed a personal relationship with God, knowing that He loves and cares about me as an individual. One of the most amazing things about the gospel is that you can be with your family forever. What a reassuring knowledge that is to have; to know that once my loved ones and I die, we will see each other again and have those family ties that we share now for eternity. I love this gospel because I know it's true. It is the same gospel that Jesus Christ established when He lived on the earth. We have a prophet and apostles today to lead this church under God's direction. The prophet is a wonderful, loving man and I know He is inspired by God. But God, not the prophet is at the head of this church. The Book of Mormon is true. Joseph Smith restored the church. The Holy Ghost has borne witness to me that all these things are true, and not in some weird way. But with a feeling of peace and joy and clarity that I know can only come from God. I have seen it work and come alive in my life. I couldn't live my life with all the happiness I have without this Gospel of Jesus Christ.

How I live my faith

I would like to think that in some ways I'm able to live my faith through my work as a nurse. I try to love my patients and care for them as Jesus would. I currently visit teach two women that are in my ward. I visit them once a month and try to find ways to serve or help them in any way they may need me to. I attend church as often as I am able to. Unfortunately because of my line of work in healthcare, I am not able to attend every Sunday. I read scriptures on a daily basis and try to be of service to those around me. I try to live my faith by my example. I stand up for what I believe in and try to become a better person through my actions and attitudes.
