Hi I'm Ethan

I grew up in Colorado. I am now serving a mission for the Church in Daejeon, South Korea. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My two biggest hobbies are sports and music. I will do anything that involves either of the two. However, I enjoy playing the piano, singing, and basketball above all others. I enjoy being in the mountains either hiking and biking. I love being with my family. It doesn't really matter what we are doing as long as we are together. I also love being with friends. I am just a social person. I enjoy watching movies and some television. My favorite shows are Psych and Even Stevens. I am an Eagle Scout. The Church strongly promotes scouting for every young man that is a member. I went to a year of college before my mission. I am now serving a mission for two years. It is very hard being away from my family and learning Korean but as I am putting my faith in the Lord, He is blessing me.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into a Mormon family. Most of my ancestors have been Mormon since the pioneer times. I consider myself blessed because of this. Though I was raised in a Mormon family, I have never felt pressured to be Mormon. I have just always wanted to. The Gospel of Jesus Christ has brought peace and joy to my life that I cannot find anywhere else. I have had too many experiences in my life where the Holy Ghost has borne witness to me that the Church is true. I have never had to look for the Church because it has always been in my home but through prayer and reading the Book of Mormon, I have never doubted that the Church is true and I absolutely love the Church. That is why I'm a Mormon.

How I live my faith

Being a member of the Mormon Church you covenant with Heavenly Father to take upon yourself the name of His son Jesus Christ. By doing so you promise to be like Jesus Christ and give of your time and energy to benefit those in need. While serving a mission, my main focus is to become like Christ by having charity and giving service. I try to serve people everywhere I go. By doing so, we are able to see others as Christ does and we are able to love them more fully. When I serve and love, my faith in Christ increases. In order to live my faith, I first have full faith in Christ, and then I put that faith to action.

Mormons believe Jesus Christ is their Savior. Why do we need a Savior?

Heavenly Father sent us to earth to get a body of flesh and bones and to be tested. By coming to earth we would be tested in order to return to live with our Father in Heaven and have eternal life. However, the only way we could ever pass the test is through our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Imagine running a marathon and you accidentally fall off course and you come to a large cliff that drops down to a deep valley. The finish line is on the other side of that valley. In this situation no one would be able to finish the race however, even though you made a mistake and fell off course, the people in charge put a bridge over the valley so that you can finish. This is why every human needs a Savior. Jesus Christ is the bridge in our life. However, he is not just one bridge. As long as we are repentant and have a desire to live with our Father in Heaven again, Jesus Christ will be our Savior, our bridge, every time we sin or make a mistake. Without Jesus Christ no one would have eternal life. Show more Show less
