Hi I'm Steve

I grew up in Heber City, Utah. I went to Utah State University. I am certified as a distinguished IT Specialist. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a father of three awesome kids, two girls and one boy. My youngest are boy/girl twins and my kids are the magic in my life. I married my college sweatheart and we have been married for over 22 years. I grew up in a small town where I spent most of my summers sleeping in my or one of my friends backyards, fishing, and hunting. I played football and wrestled in HS as well as playing basketball in the community and church leagues. I still enjoy hunting, especially Mule Deer, and fish whenever there is the opportunity. I am in the computer business and work for the largest computer software and hardware company in the world. I am a Client Technical Architect which means I consult with our customers to design, specify and implement large computer and storage architectures, in today's computer industry buzz, you could say I help them live in the clouds as in Cloud Computing. I have degrees in Computer Science and Electrical Engineering where I focused on Computer Graphics and System Architectures. I am a big sports fan. I am a San Francisco 49ers fan although they have struggled since the good ol' days with Joe and Steve. Because I live in Colorado I pull for the Broncos. I am a long time Utah Jazz Fan from the time they moved from New Orleans and remember during their first season going to see them play my childhood sports hero, Dr J. with the 76ers. I have AF Falcons season football tickets and my college teams are Utah State, Boise State, Utah, AF and BYU, in that order.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in the Church and am the person I am in large part to the teachings of the Church. The church has given me direction and a meaning to life. I believe that God created us to have joy and that he gave us families to have for all of eternity. It is sad to me that many believe that a husband, wife and their children will be separated after this life. I am often confused that some believe that Mormons are not Christians. Jesus Christ is our savior and the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is His Church. There is no other means to return to our Heavenly Father except through Jesus Christ. President Thomas S. Monson is God's mouthpiece on the earth today, just as God has had other prophets thoroughout this world's existence. President Monson is in the same role that has been filled by Moses, Abraham, Joseph Smith and others. I believe that Joseph Smith was called by God to organize his church and re-establish God's Church on the earth. And that through him, our Church has been give God's preisthood authority to perform required ordinances such as baptism by immersion. I served in the Spain Barcelona mission and it was in the service of the Lord that I gained my testimony that He lives. This undeniable truth was communicated directly to my soul. I believe that if you give our Church a chance, read the Book of Mormon, pray and compare it to the Bible you will come to know that this is His Church and you can learn to better know and love Jesus Christ and He who sent Him.

How I live my faith

The main way I live my religion is by following the golden rule as stated by the Savior in Matthew Chapter 22 Verses 36-40: 36 Master, which is the great commandment in the law? 37 Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. 38 This is the first and great acommandment. 39 And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt alove thy neighbour as thyself. 40 On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets. I believe the only way to bring someone to the Gospel of Jesus Christ is by love. I have served in the church in many roles. I was a missionary in Barcelona Spain and deeply love the Spanish people, their culture and their amazing country. I have taught children from ages 4 to 10 about the Gospel for many years as a Primary Teacher. I have made amazing friends and had many great experiences as a Home teacher which is the Church’s program to reach out to our fellow Mormons in their homes with their familys offering them service and sharing lessons with them. One of the greatest programs I have been involved in with the Church is the Boy Scouts of America. As a youth, I earned the rank of Life Scout and have helped numerous friends and other youth to earn their Eagle ranks. I have served as Wolf den leader and I believe the BSA is one of America’s greatest organizations which has taught me many life lessons both as a youth and as a Scout leader.
