Hi I'm Dean

I was born in Utah, but have lived in California, Hawaii, Arizona and Colorado. I am a Husband, Father, Grandfather. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

First of all, I would like to make it clear that “Mormon” is just a nickname because of the additional scriptures we have received called “The Book of Mormon.” The correct name of the Church is “The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.” We worship the Savior. I was born and raised in Utah, but after getting married and graduating from Brigham Young University, moved to California and the other states mentioned above. I am a retired Accountant and am 71 years old. My wife and I have been married going on 47 years. I keep myself active by serving in various positions in the Church and with projects around our Home, such as finishing the basement. We have 7 married children and 21 grand children, so we spend a lot of time with our family which is very important to us. I love to watch football, but I also love hiking, camping and most of all running which I try to do every other day. Lifting weights gives me some upper body exercise and cross training. I love competition and have competed several times in the Huntsman World Senior Games in St. George, Utah and in the National Senior Games Track Meets. My specialty is the 400 Meters and 800 Meters. I attribute my good health to my exercise, the abstinence of Alcohol and Tobacco and my Faith.

Why I am a Mormon

My parents were active Mormons, so I was raised in the Church. Never-the-Less, I gained a Testimony of the truthfulness of the Church for myself by reading the scriptures and living the commandments. I served a 2 year Mission for the Church in Vancouver, British Columbia at the age of 20 teaching others about the Church and that strengthened my testimony a lot. The reason I belong to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is because it is the same Church that Jesus Christ established. It has been restored in it’s fullness along with the Priesthood by heavenly messengers. We have a Prophet on the Earth today to give us guidance and direction. My wife and I were married in the Temple for “Time and all Eternity” by an authorized servant of our Father in Heaven. If we remain worthy, we will have our family for Eternity.

How I live my faith

Giving Service to others is the key to “keeping the faith” and being Happy. The Church does not have a paid ministry, so all of the active Church Members have the opportunity to serve in various positions (callings). Since I was a teenager, there have been very few times that I have not had a “calling” such as teaching the youth, teaching adults, Scoutmaster, Bishop, Counselor to a Bishop. I have also had many opportunities to speak in Church. I love the youth of the Church and I love greeting members as they arrive at our weekly meetings. I have had so many prayers answered that there is no way I can deny that the Church is True. I have had my trials and struggles, but they only made me stronger.
