Hi I'm Mitchell

I grew up in Oklahoma. I am convert to the Church. We have lived in Colorado for almost 25 years. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Baptized after graduating from high school, I served a mission in California. Met my wife at BYU, we have 4 children and 2 grandsons. I am little bit of family history/genealogy buff. It is intriquing for me consider the great heritage of my ancestors - their sacrifices and trials along with their wonderful examples of hard work. The geography of their lives also gives me great pause - to try to imagine why they lived where they did - what motivated them to go to the places they did. Probably the closest thing to a hobby for me is riding the tourist railroads throughout America. My wife and I have traveled to many areas of the US to ride the trains and railroads restored from earlier days - thus preserving the history of the area. I am grateful to live in this land of America. I feel a great debt to those that sacrificed so much so that my family can enjoy the blessings of this land.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because of what the Church teaches about the Savior - his mission and his sacrifice. Most of the people I know believe in Jesus Christ but the depth of understanding about Him is not found anywhere else that I know of. It is one thing to believe in Jesus Christ, but quite another to understand why the need for a Savior, who He was before this earth life, what His sacrifice means to every person, and how He accomplished that sacrifice. The Church gives me the assurance that a loving Heavenly Father speaks to his children. He answers my prayers and give direction to the world through living prophets - just as He has throughout the ages. I am a Mormon because there are men that speak for Lord during the difficult times in which we live. There is great safety and comfort to know that that is true. Whatever knowledge or understanding I have come to realize over the years as a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints - I am a Mormon because of the myriad of blessings that come to my family because of our membership.

How I live my faith

For me, living my faith is about following the example of the Savior in every aspect of our lives. It is a bold statement, but I do strive - however inadequate. When I stumble, I still know of His kindness and sacrifice and it helps me to get back to where I know I need to be. To live my faith is to excerise faith in Him.
