Hi I'm Jason

I am a 4th generation native to Arizona. I serve the community as a fireman/paramedic. I have a family of 6. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

As a Captain/Paramedic I enjoy serving the community. Off duty, I enjoy the role of Husband/Father. With 3 girls and a boy, my wife and I stay quite busy. When I am able, I love the outdoors and going Bass fishing. I served a Spanish speaking mission in the Dominican Republic. Since I have had many Spanish speaking opportunities as side jobs. Recently I was located to teach Hazardous Materials in Spanish in the same place I served my mission! What a miracle.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born and raised a Mormon but never took it seriously until the big decisions in life came as an adult. What career should I choose? Do I really want to get married? What religion is really true, if any? At the age of 21 the seriousness of life hit me full force and I needed answers. I visited various churches with different friends but only confusion remained. I rememberd hearing of a promise given regarding the Book of Mormon. I decided to accept challenge the promise. I read the Book of Mormon in its entirety, prayed for answers and nothing happened. I continued to read into the book of Doctrine and Covenants and when I arrived to D&C 6 I was amazed at what happened. My soul was enlightened, clarity entered my mind, the words seemed to jump off the page and apply directly to me. I felt as though various portions of what I read applied specifically to me. There was no doubt in my mind, I had my answer. My life has changed ever since. I cleaned up my act, served a mission, and married in the Temple. Life is great!

How I live my faith

I love the area I live in and the church members I am able to associate with, we are one big family. Each Sunday its great to shake hands with others striving to be the best they can, as I am. I enjoy the opportunities that come in serving those I worship with. Each Sunday brings a renewed spiritual recharge that, I feel, is crucial in staying on the straight and narrow path that leads back to our Creator. As a father/husband, I do my best to make sure we have spiritual moments each day through scipture study and other avenues. I feel it important to have those spiritual "time outs" each day on a personal level as well. The only true and lasting happiness of true consequence is found in living the teaching of Jesus Christ and doing the best we can to follow his example.

What is faith?

To have faith is to “hope for things which are not seen, which are true” (see Book of Mormon, Alma 32:21 and Hebrews 11:1). Each day you act upon things you hope for, even before you see the end result. This is similar to faith. Faith in God is more than a theoretical belief in Him. To have faith in God is to trust Him, to have confidence in Him, and to be willing to act on your belief in Him. It is a principle of action and power. The Book of Mormon prophet Alma compared faith to a seed. If you plant a seed and nourish it, if it is a good seed it will grow and eventually bear fruit (Alma 32:28-43). It is the same with faith. If you are obedient to God’s commandments, study His word, and have a desire to believe in Christ, faith will grow inside of you. Show more Show less
