Hi I'm Katie

I grew up in Washington State. I am going to be a Special Education Teacher. I love my friends and family. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in the same house my whole life in Washington State. I have an amazing family made up of amazing parents, 4 older sisters, 2 older brothers, and 15 nieces and nephews and counting. I enjoy playing sports, especially volleyball, but I am probably the least competitive person you will ever meet! I do things for the fun of it and because I enjoy it. I absolutely LOVE music and nature. They can speak to me and touch me in ways that words and other forms of art cannot. Seeing a beautiful sunrise reflecting off a lake, looking at stars, or seeing the tiny intricacies on flowers makes me feel so blessed to live in this beautiful world. I love all kinds of music. I love classical, baroque, chant, contemporary, electric, country, pop, jazz, and I could go on forever. I play the piano and the acoustic guitar and I love to sing. My life-long dream is to one day learn to play the cello. I am a college student majoring in Special Education and minoring in Music. People with special needs are some of my most favorite people in the world and I cannot wait to spend every day with them to help them see and achieve their great potential.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised in this church by parents who believe in it with their whole hearts. Over the years I had a lot of doubts about The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. The most doubts came when my mother passed away due to cancer. I was 10 years old. I doubted probably close to everything you could about this religion while growing up. Over time each and every one of those doubts were taken away and replaced with feelings of peace, happiness, and assurance. At the age of 13 my father remarried an amazing woman who has become my best friend. Even though life hasn't been a breeze, I have been blessed more than I could ever imagine. My biggest blessings are my strong father, my amazing mother, and my fabulous "bonus mom." By their examples they have helped me to learn to rely on the Lord and to gain a testimony of this church. I know that Jesus Christ is our Savior who saved us from both spiritual and physical death. Through Him we can return to live with our Father in Heaven and loved ones again. I know that I will be with my mother again one day. I know that Christ has felt and experienced every single feeling and experience I have gone through in my life. And I know that because of His suffering He knows exactly what to do to help me make it through. I know He loves me, and I know that He loves you too. He wants us to be happy and to return to live with Him again and He has given us a plan to make it there. And that is why I am a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I live my faith every day by doing the daily things like reading scriptures, saying prayers, and trying to serve those around me just as our Savior did. I have spent time teaching people of my own age about the Bible and the Book of Mormon as well as those much younger about Jesus and the importance of families. Now I am on a mission for the church and I talk with people every day about how the true church of Jesus Christ can bless their lives just as it has blessed mine.

What will the Mormon missionaries talk about when they visit my home?

Missionaries share a message about the happiness that comes through following the teachings and example of Jesus Christ and the hope that is found in our Heavenly Father's plan for us to be able to return to live with Him. Show more Show less
