Hi I'm Roy

As a Mormon for over 20 years I taught Boy Scouts & Gospel Doctrine; helped the unemployed & assisted in the High Priest Group.

About Me

Happily married for over 36 years, with a wife and two sons and their families, I am retired from the U.S. Military after 25 years of service in personnel administration and recruiting. I have worked in religious ecumenical affairs (E.I.) and international community development (I.C.A.) for many years and am a BSA merit badge counselor. Currently work as an employment counselor for disabled US Military Veterans and local church members. To stay healthy I play racquetball, swim, jog and snow ski; and practice tai chi and kajukenbo karate. In addition to various church service programs, I participate in Rotary International, Toastmasters, Master Builders Association, PSCDA (Puget Sound Career Development Association) and various military service groups (DAV; American Legion & VFW). Our family loves traveling, camping and community service.

Why I am a Mormon

As a follower of Jesus Christ, I have found that the teachings and principals of the Mormon Church provide a clear and concise explanation of the Atonement of Jesus Christ and the meaning of God's love for every human being. We take seriously Christ's directive to "mourn with those who mourn and comfort those that stand in need of comfort, and to stand as witnesses of God at all times." My family and I have received countless blessings as we have shared the Christian Gospel and made commitments to strive to live righteous lives.

How I live my faith

Membership in the Church of Jesus Christ has provided our family with great happiness and countless opportunities for service with members of our church and community. My wife and I have taught adult and youth Sunday School for many years and have mentored Boy Scouts for over twenty years. We have been rewarded by seeing many of them became Eagle Scouts. For those who are unemployed or under-employed, my wife and I have been able to assist with job search training and job referral resources. Home and Visiting Teaching has kept us connected with specific needs of many families. Teaching adult Sunday School for several years has helped keep my understanding of the Gospel current and fresh. We have learned to pray for the guidance of the Holy Spirit. We hope that every person in the world will have an opportunity to learn about the Love of God and the Atonement of his Son Jesus Christ. We sincerely honor and respect every person's righteous religious beliefs and encourage continual dialogue about spiritual issues.
