Hi I'm Draesen

I grew up in Anchorage Alaska. I am 19 years old and have been called to serve in the Santa Maria Brazil mission. I am a Mormon.

About Me

I am a proud member of a family of five children in which I am the youngest. At the age of 19 I am an outdoors fanatic. Ive grown up in Anchorage Alaska which has been my play ground for 18 years of my life. I love downhill mountain biking, snowboarding, rock climbing, and hiking. I am fresh out of high school and am just figuring out what I am going to be doing for the next few years. But for now I have made the decision to share my knowledge and testimony of the gospel of Jesus Christ on a two year mission in which I will labor and serve others and the Lord in the Santa Maria Brazil mission.

Why I am a Mormon

As a young child I grew up in the church. With my brothers by my side, I’ve always gone to church every Sunday and tried to listen to the advice of my church leaders. But as an extremely energetic boy I was always getting into trouble and encouraging my friends to join in. As the years passed I eventually concurred middle school and moved on to a whole new culture that introduced itself to me my freshman year of high school. I fought the constant temptations all throughout high school that were presenting themselves right in my face on a day-to-day basis. Choosing the right friends was a big challenge for me. Not everyone views the world the same way a child does that has grown up in the Mormon Church all his life. That is a discovery I made while exploring the different friend groups and lifestyles the world has to offer. Many things have changed since my high school career, and conversely many things have been learned. Gaining a testimony of what I have been a part of (The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints) all these years was not easy for me. But what I have learned is a testimony of the gospel is not something that can be gained over night, it’s gained through a desire to learn and desire to "feast" upon the teachings and writings of the church. This is acquired through an open mind and a willing heart. I have personally gained a knowledge and testimony that this church, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, is the only true church on the earth today. I know that I have a Savior that loves me so much that he gave his life for me. I have gained a testimony that we have a living prophet of God that leads this church today. I also have a testimony of a man named Joseph Smith that restored this gospel once again on this earth and died for this cause. One of Joseph Smith’s callings on this earth was to protect and translate a second book of Christ’s teachings called the Book of Mormon. I know of this book to be true.

How I live my faith

I have been a menber of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints all my life. As a youth i was a active member of the churcha and i participated in the variouse youth activites that the youth leaders offerd for us. This was not hard, however, because i allwase found the activities to be orriginal and fun. As a teenager i grew up doing variouse outdoor activities in Alaska which gave me plenty of oppertunities to invite my non-mormon friends to join us and possibly share a little about what we really believe. Today i serve in the church as a represenitive of Jesus Christ also known as a missionary. i am in the Missionary Training Center (MTC) right now learning the portuguese language, preparing to share the gosple with the people of Santa Maria Brazil. This is an exciting time in my life. I have been preparing for this moment for a long time and i plan to serve with all my heart and testimony.
