Hi I'm Jan

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm married, with 3 teenagers. I'm a Medical Lab Technician, but currently I'm a stay-st-home mom. I love my family, and believe that being with them is the most important thing I can do right now.

Why I am a Mormon

Even though I was born into this church, I still had to gain a testimony of it and truly be converted. The gospel shows us the way we should live. I am much happier when I am living the principles I've been taught.

How I live my faith

I try to remember that everyone is a child of God, and treat them with kindness and respect. I sing in our choir and lead the music in our women's class. I love to bring the Spirit to people through music.

Why don’t women hold the priesthood in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints? How do Mormon women lead in the Church?

Jan
Women don't hold the priesthood because we have a different calling on earth. Men are given the priesthood, which is the power to do God's work. Women are given the right of procreation and motherhood. Neither is more important, and men and women support the other in their roles. Our women's group, the Relief Society, is presided over by women to serve women and families. The Young Women (ages 12-18) also have a presidency of adult women over them. When our ward (or congregation) has a leadership meeting, the female presidencies are present to contribute. Show more Show less

What do Mormons believe about “eternal life?”

Jan
I know that there is life after death, and that family relationships continue on. Everyone will be resurrected, and then judged on how they lived their life. Those who did all they could to follow Christ and obey His commandments will go to the highest level of heaven, where they will live with God, Jesus, and their families, forever. Show more Show less
