Hi I'm Kristen

I'm your average college student and I'm a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints, I'm a Mormon!

About Me

I am a college student at a local university. I love learning, I like playing the piano, I enjoy running, and just about any kind of outdoor activity! My favorite thing to do is hanging out with my family and friends. We love playing games, cooking, and talking and laughing together! I'm also creative and spontaneous and so I love doing inventive and fun things on the spur of the moment!

Why I am a Mormon

One day I was thinking to myself, "What do I really want in life?" I came to the conclusion that all that I really want in life is to be happy! However I didn't want to be just be temporarily happy, I wanted to be truly happy. I know that God loves me. He wants me to be happy too! He sent his son, Jesus Christ to earth to set an example for us. He demonstrated characteristics and attributes of love. I feel so happy when I follow Christ's admonition to love one another. I know that we are put here on this earth for a reason, to learn how to be better. By being a member of this church and by being obedient to the counsels and commandments I have found true happiness.

How I live my faith

I love this church because It is more than just a religion it's a life-style.when you become a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, you promise each week to take Christ's name upon you. This means that we promise to follow his example. Christ was always helping others and seeking to serve them. The church helps us to serve each other and I love all of the callings I've had in the church! a calling is an opportunity to serve in the church. One of the callings I've been called to be a visiting teacher (pretty much a friend to someone in the church that you personally look after). I especially loved this calling because I feel that I get to help someone on a personal level and really get to know them. Visiting teaching ensures that all of the women in the ward are looked after by each other through each other. I know that Heavenly Father (God) loves all of his children and that he looks after us by using others.

What is the Mormon lifestyle like? How do Mormons live?

Kristen
It's living a normal life but at a higher standard. I go to work and school but I also attend many uplifting activities and do a lot of service. We are asked to do a lot but all of it makes us better. It's like in school when you are part of an honor's society you are asked to do extra circular things. On Monday I go to Work and School. After school I go to Institute which is a building that has religious classes inside. I'm taking a class on studying the scriptures this semester. When I come home I eat dinner at dinner group that me and my friends set up. After that I go to an activity called Family Home Evening or FHE which is a hymn, prayer, spiritual lesson or thought, and then a game or activity. It's really fun and I come to know my friends, who are my family while I'm at college, really well. Usually I'd have FHE with my family. On Wednesday at night I go to another institute class, after there is a munch and mingle which is really fun. On Thursday I go to the temple. On Sunday I go to church for three hours, eat lunch, except one Sunday of every month, I fast or go with out food for 24 hours and donate the money I would of spent on food to the poor. I go to choir and sing hymns with friends. I spend time with people but I try and focus on keeping the Sabbath day holy and think about Christ. I also do service in the church through something called a calling. I am called to help others with genealogy. Everyday I read the scriptures and pray. This is my typical week. Show more Show less
