Hi I'm Blaine

I grew up in Southern California. I now live in Colorado, and work as a Nurse Practitioner in a Pediatric ER. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I live in Colorado with my beautiful wife and amazing 3 children. I enjoy rock climbing, mountain biking and playing ultimate frisbee. Colorado seems to be the perfect place for these hobbies. I have been married for 10 years, and our children have each come into our lives in a very special way. My 7 year old daughter and 4 year old son were a gift from God through the process of adoption. After bringing these beautiful children into our lives, my wife amazingly became pregnant, leading to our youngest daughter who is 2. I feel very strongly that all of our children have a special story, and that each of them should be brought up knowing that they are children of a loving Heavenly Father who wants them to grow and develop, and be happy. I work as a Nurse Practitioner in a busy pediatric emergency department. I love what I do, and enjoy working with children and families in a time that may be very difficult for them. It brings me a lot of joy to be able to serve families when they are in a stressful situations. It is also neat to walk into a hospital room with a screaming child, and by the time you leave have the child and parents laughing and smiling. I love the sound of laughing children.

Why I am a Mormon

One of the things that I love about my church is the emphasis on the family. My faith helps me to be the father and husband that I need to be. I love my wife very much and I am so thankful she is in my life. I feel my wife and I have an amazing relationship and a big part of that is because we try to follow the guidance of our church in our interactions. We listen to each other, we are concerned for each other, and we forgive each other when mistakes are made. We are not perfect but we try to let the principles of Jesus Christ guide our relationship and because of that, we have an incredibly fulfilling relationship. I love being a dad. It is so satisfying to have kids who want to be with you and are excited when you come home from work. I try to ensure that when I am home, my children know I am there for them. But being a father can be stressful and difficult. Providing for your family is important to do, but that can also get in the way of being there for your children. There are also many activities and groups that can influence your children in a negative way. My faith has helped me to find the balance of my profession, and my children, and bring them all together. I do need to work and support my family, and my children need a social outlet, but the most important thing to me is the family and because of the church, we have the guidance we need to bring everything together. Another thing I love about my faith is that I truly feel there is a loving Heavenly Father who wants me to grow, learn, and progress. The same way I want my children to grow, learn and progress. If there is anybody who knows how to be happy and have joy, it is our Heavenly Father. He wants us to be happy and has shown us how, we just need to listen.

How I live my faith

I strive to live my life by following the example of Jesus Christ. I am not perfect, but I try to be kind to others, and be helpful to those I interact with. Because of my profession, I have many opportunities to apply the teachings of Jesus Christ, and help people in times of need. No matter who you are, you will always feel good about what you are doing if you are trying to do what Jesus Christ would do in your shoes. Our church is highly supportive of kids and teenagers. For the boys, we participate in the cubscouts and boyscouts program. I volunteer with the cubscouts to help ensure the program is running smooth, and that the leaders working with the boys have all the resources they need.
