Hi I'm Tom Scheurn

I'm am an active father, husband and grandfather. I manage an automobile dealership, I live life to it's fullest and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up with 4 siblings and had moved several times before landing in Scottsdale Az. My father was a savere alcoholic. My mother worked very hard to make ends meet, and when I graduated from high school I did my best to help suport her. I had a Rodeo scholorship at a Jr. colledge so I moved away. That lasted about 6 months, In 1984 I won A circuit Chamionship in the Bareback Rideing . I went to work for my best friends father selling cars at his Ford dealership. I had also earned my SAG card by acting in several local and national commercials. I got married to a girl I met at a Junior Rodeo in High School, we had 5 beautiful children. At this time in my life I wasn't only supporting my family and my Rodeo hobby, I was supporting the same thing that took my fathers life! Drugs & Alcohol! My wife and I had talked about who would take our children to church. Since she was Mormon but not active and I didn't have the desire to do so we thought it be best that she would assume that responsability. She was finaly inspired by her Bishop to go to the Temple to receive her own endowments. About when this was taking place I was falling deeper into the grasp of the advesary. After getting in trouble that could have had a much worse outcome I finally realized that If I continued on this road to personal distruction, it was enevitable that I would loose my life, family, or end up in prison. I feel that by totaly submitting myself to the Lord, he was able to free me from this bondage!

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon for a number of reasons. I know that the doctrin answers so many questions that were not taught to me as a Catholic. I know now where I came from, why I am here, and where I am trying to end up. I was truly converted by the story of Joseph Smith, an unedgucated and confused young man, searching for answers about religions. He was called by God himself to restore the Gospel and and bring forth the light and knowledge of Jesus Christ to all corners of the world! I have always believed in the Bible and past Prophets, I have always felt that there should be more to it so why couldn't there be an apendage? I have seen first hand what great work the restored Gospal has done for so many people including myself. Think about it and pray for yourself! A young man in his teens writes the most powerful books in the world next to the Bible, organizes the fastest growing churches in modern times. It couldn't have been done in any other country than America and at a time when it was so needed. Despite all of the trials and tragities that the early day Saints went through the Gospel stiil moved forward to places in the world that no one would even imagine. I know that it is not coincedental, and that it is all God's plan to bring us back to him. By joining The Church Of Jesus Christ Of Later Day Saints My life has been changed beyond imagineation. It is certainly not perfect but at least now I have support in so many areas that most people don't. Over the years I have talked to so many people that had preconcieved thoughts or notions about Mormons and I have always found their ideas most amazing if not amuzing. I feel so blessed to have the Gospel in my life and know that Jesus Christ was sent to earth to Atone for mankind and until we accept him in our life we cannot progress to the next! I don't want anyone to think that we are so self reightous, we are all human and when we move on there will only be one judge, and I hope I can make the cut!

How I live my faith

I was recently called to serve in the Bishopric of a Young Single Adults Ward after serving on the Stake High Council for about 4 years. My curent calling, like all church callings has really educated me in so many different areas. A big percentage of our members happen to be return missionaries and I have been so amazed of the vast amount of knowledge they have and their willingness to serve. Being around these young single adults, even for such a short time has truly been a blessing to me and my wife.
