Hi I'm Monica

I'm a wife and mother of three boys, one with special needs. I've lived in Colorado for most of my life. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love to be outdoors. I enjoy hiking, biking, swimming and jogging with my husband and three boys. Last year we found out that our baby would be born with a lot of health problems. His neurologist recommended a very aggressive therapy approach. He and I have been in therapy since he was four weeks old. We spend a lot of time at doctor appointments and doing therapy at home. I now have aspirations to go to Physical Therapy school and some day use those skills to help not only my son, but other children in need.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon because life and trials make sense only with the knowledge that I can be with my family again after death. Building a strong and loving family is hard, but I know that my husband and sons and I will not be separated forever by death. God has made it possible for marriage to last beyond the grave. The divorce rate among parents of children with special needs is somewhere between 80-90%. My husband and I have a lot of demands on our resources, especially our time. The focus that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints puts on strengthening marriages and families has been invaluable to me. Marriage and parenting classes provided by the church and attending my weekly meetings strengthen my resolve to put my family first. I need Jesus Christ in my life every day. My imperfections may be less visible than those of my young son, but we both need Him. As I study His life, death and resurrection I am amazed by His love for me and each of us. There are days when it feels like no one understands what I am going through. On those days I take great comfort in knowing that He does. Because of Him, someday my son will be made whole and my family can be together forever.

How I live my faith

Our family motto is “Follows the Spirit”. We do this by following the thoughts and feelings we have to do good. Family prayer and scripture study help us to know Jesus Christ. I am a stay-at-home mom because my time with small children in my home is fleeting. I want them to know what is important to me and learn my values.
