Hi I'm Brooklyn

I'm a mom of three. I love to travel. I read all the time. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in Utah in a small town. My parents are awesome. I had lots of fun and I love the mountains. When I was 19, I fell in love with my best friend's brother, and we were married in the Salt Lake temple. It was a beautiful, but very cold, day. We both worked hard and graduated from college; I majored in History. Don't really know what I was thinking career-wise--I just love it!! After we graduated, my husband joined the U.S. Army and we have moved all over the world for the past seven years. I LOVE to travel. It has been a wonderful experience to see so many places. My favorite part, though, is all the awesome people I meet! We have three children, who are all blond, funny, and very messy. I stay at home with the kids, which is fun. We currently live by a beach, so we build lots of sand castles....and I do a lot of sweeping. I read all kinds of books, I knit, I am learning how to quilt and sew, and I love to try new recipes. My favorite food ever is chocolate chip cookies and milk. Yum!

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up Mormon, and was blessed to have wonderful parents who taught me to recognize the many ways God communicates with us. I knew at a young age that this church is good. I felt God's love and I knew that everything the church teaches will make us better, if we follow the things we are taught. As a teenager, I prayed to know if this church is the true church, the one that God leads and wants us to follow. I did receive an answer. Since then, I have had the truth of it confirmed again and again in my heart.

How I live my faith

I try to live each day better than the day before. I get discouraged a lot. It is hard to be nice, be motivated, be hardworking, be all the things we are expected to be. But I also pray a lot. I pray for strength to become a good mother, wife, friend. I know that God helps me. I feel his love and his mercy holding me up each day. All the hard work each day, trying to be better, is so worth it when I feel His love for me. I want to be able to tell my Heavenly Father that I did my best. I accept every calling I have been offered. I don't feel pressured to, I do it because I want to help. I love to teach...only because I learn so much when I study and prepare to teach. I have worked with the children, the youth, and with the Relief Society. I love to visit teach. Some of my favorite friends I have met through visit teaching. I don't think it is hard at all to be Mormon. It is an honor.

Do Mormons only help Mormons?

Brooklyn
All of the large service projects I have ever participated in have been for the community. One time we participated in an inter-faith food drive for Thanksgiving dinner donations. Another project was to clean up a large city green area/park, which saved the city thousands of dollars. One time we helped gather and organize clothing for a women's shelter. I've often participated in making quilts, hygiene kits, hats, blankets, school kits, and other items for local and foreign organizations. I think as a whole our members love to help our communities. We are taught often about the importance of service, and we acknowledge and follow Jesus' example of helping others whenever we can. Show more Show less
