Hi I'm Dan

I'm married and the father of five great kids. I'm a dentist, a cowboy, a pilot, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I practice general dentistry near Seattle, Washington. I'm the father of three young men and two young women, and the husband of a wonderful woman. I have been actively involved in music most of my life, both instrumental and vocal. I spend much of my free time riding my horses, chasing cows. Time spent on horseback is great fun and a wonderful stress reliever. One of my latest projects was learning to rope steers (team roping). I also recently obtained my private pilot's license. Learning new skills and facing new challenges is something I enjoy.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born to parents who are active members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. My parents taught me faith in Jesus Christ and instilled in me a desire to be obedient to my Heavenly Father's commandments. My upbringing notwithstanding, the time came when I truly had to decide for myself if what my parents had taught me was true. For me this was a process, not a single event. There was no single moment or event that caused me to believe what I believe, but a series of experiences and choices, quiet moments that brought to me a conviction of the truth of what I was taught in my youth. I have a strong testimony, born of the Spirit of God, that the fulness of the gospel of Jesus Christ is found in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. I know that it is His church on the earth today, restored to the earth by a true prophet of God, Joseph Smith. As the years go by my testimony grows stronger as the Holy Ghost whispers in a still, small voice that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, that He atoned for the sins of the world, that through His grace I can be forgiven for my sins and shortcomings and become more like Him, that the Mormon church is His church and that there is a living prophet on the earth today who serves as His mouthpiece to the world. As I am obedient to my Father's commandments and seek to follow His Son, Jesus Christ, the Holy Ghost speaks peace to my heart that I am doing what He would have me do.

How I live my faith

I have made the choice to be completely active in the Lord's church, ever since it was my decision to make. At age 19 I served two years as a full time missionary in Northern Italy. I loved the time I spent among the Italian people. I have been blessed to serve as a choir director more than once. I love music and have a special love for choral music. Much of the greatest choral music ever written is sacred. I have also spent many years as organist for my congregation. Music has the power to draw us closer to our Heavenly Father and His Son, Jesus Christ. My current responsibility, along with playing the organ, is to teach our adult Sunday School class. The requirement to study the scriptures to prepare a weekly lesson has been a tremendous blessing for me. One of the ongoing responsibilities I share with most members of the church is that of "Home Teacher". We have the opportunity to minister to one another in our homes, to look out for one another's needs and care for one another. Christ taught that inasmuch as we have done good or ill to one of the least of these, our brethren, we have done it unto Him. I consider myself to be a disciple of Jesus Christ. I am trying to be more like Him, to live as He would have me live, to be honest in my dealings with others, to be considerate and kind. I have much yet to learn and many bad habits yet to conquer, but through Christ's atonement I know I can be forgiven and become ever more like Him.
