Hi I'm Cori

I work with kids who have been effected by abuse & neglect, & find joy in helping them overcome their circumstances. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My life is dedicated to the happiness of families. Not only have I, in the past 3 months, come to personally experience the incredible joy of motherhood, but also have worked for years with families and children in at-risk situations, while my husband finishes college. Many of the children I work with have been victims of poverty, abuse, or neglect. Too often when the children come to us, we are the first adults in their lives that are trustworthy and show them that they are deeply cared about. By spending time with these children we help them overcome their past and move towards brighter futures that they wouldn't have otherwise. Also, we help broken families, foster parents, and single moms piece their lives back together, so that their kids can have the benefit of being in a healthy, happy home. I feel so fulfilled to have my days spent in the service of my own beautiful family, and the families of others. Through these experience I have learned first hand that nothing can replace a good home, where children know that they are loved and they belong.

Why I am a Mormon

My religion has given my an abiding relationship with my Father in Heaven. Experiences I have had with Him have taught me that He know and cares about the details of my life. I have felt His love for His children, and been deeply touched by the depth and breadth of His love, as I realize and feel that same love for me. Without a doubt, I know that I am His daughter, and He has comforted me in times of grief and had His angels keep charge over me. If it weren't for this relationship, I don't know where I'd be in life. It is very real, and a guiding force in the paths in my life. I have no reason for anything but gratitude and joy, because I know that I am in my Father's hands. Come what may, everything will be okay in the end. If it's not okay, it not the end, because He is there for us.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by trying to cheer up children that I work with who have come from rough homes. Through my job, when I work with kids is generally during times of tragedy and change for them. It's important to me that these children have some bright memories in this otherwise hard time, and I really try to give them the love and attention that the Savior would give them if He were in my shoes. These children deserve to know that they are special to someone.

What are some things that tell you there is a God?

Cori
My 3 month old baby is proof enough to me that there is a God. I marvel at how perfect he arrived, at how each little detail of his is so complex, yet all came together inside of me without me trying at all. More than his sweet little body though, is his soul fresh from heaven. Life with a newborn is a spiritual experience everyday. I feel heaven in my home, because part of my home just came from Heaven.
