Hi I'm Debbie

I grew up in Southern California. I am a mom, a painter, a runner a breast cancer survior and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in Southern California surrounded by extended family. After graduating from BYU in communications, my husband and I lived all over the United States. I learned that I could live anywhere if I had the church there. We settled in the Pacific Northwest and have raised our children here. I am the mother of 5 smart and beautiful children. Aside from being a mom I love to paint, to read and to excercise. I recently finished a half marathon. This was an important accomplishment for me because three years previous I could not even walk up the street due to the effects of chemo. I am a three year breast cancer survivor and feel great! I love life, my family, and the gospel!

Why I am a Mormon

I was born and raised in the church but I think my conversion happened when I went away to BYU for college. I saw the way others lived the teachings of the Gospel. I really learned what the Atonement of Christ is in my life ... that I can be forgiven of my sins and live with Heavenly Father and Jesus once more. I also know that I can live with my family again after this life. If that were not so, I don't know if life would have any real meaning to me .My family is everything to me. I know that God lives and leads our lives.

How I live my faith

I am an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. What this means in my life is that I attend my Sunday meetings each week. I accept callings in the church (working with the other adults or the youth or the children). I read scriptures and say prayers daily. I also try to live a Christ like life -- treating others in a way I would want to be treated. I have also been involved in volunteer work at the school and with my children's sports teams.
