Hi I'm Kara

I am a stay at home mom with 3 kids. I am involved in my kids' school. I have run a marathon and love fashion. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a VERY social girl. I love spending time with my friends, either at playgroups with our children, or the occasional girls nights out. My friends mean the world to me. I ran a marathon because someone told me I couldn't, so you could say I am a bit stubborn. The closest relatives that live near us are about 500 miles away, and that helps us get along much better, because that stubbornness can be a little hard to live with. I have 3 amazing children, and I wonder everyday how they got to be so brilliant! As a family we love going to pretty much any professional sporting event. We have seen baseball, basketball, football, soccer, and lacrosse. There is nothing like "rooting for the home team"! I love to sing. I love many different types of music from musicals to pop to punk. I am married to my best friend, and spending time with him is my favorite thing to do.

Why I am a Mormon

I know that the church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is the only true church on the earth. The only way to have the power of God on earth is through the priesthood, and with it miracles are possible. I know that because of the priesthood we can have temple marriages that last beyond death, and because of that we can again see our loved ones who have passed. I know that Jesus Christ suffered and died for my sins and because of that I can repent and be forgiven...I can get a second chance.

How I live my faith

I serve with the sisters 18 and older. I plan and organize activities with them. Friendship is one of the most important things in my life, and the people I meet through church are some of the closest and most wonderful friends I have. I believe that it is so easy to be friends with some one when you share the same values. Hard times can be made much easier when your burden can be shared with sisters in faith.

What are Mormon women like? Do Mormons believe in equality of men and women?

As a Mormon woman I tend to be very organized and efficient. I have been in the PTA presidency in many capacities and people are always amazed with what I can get done. I have an contact for ANYTHING. Talent show? check, fundraising? you bet! Dance, carnival, game night? I can do or find someone who can do just about anything. As for equality...the men in our church would just about fall apart without us. We all serve and work hard in our church, but just between you and me, the women make the men look good. I have never been treated like I am anything less than my husband. We may not always hold the same positions but we serve and are loved equally by those in our church and by our Heavenly Father.
