Hi I'm Scott

I grew up in Baltimore, MD. Married 37 years. I own an office equipment & document solutions business in Utah. I am a Mormon.

About Me

When Kim and I got married we wanted to have a large family and center our lives on them. We are the parents of 7 children, 6 boys and 1 girl. We also have 13 grandchildren. We spend or have spent alot of time at ball parks, music lessons, home schooling, camping trips, service projects, vacations and worshipping at church. All of our children have served a full time mission for our church all over the world. (Hong Kong, Detroit Michigan, Taiwan, Mexico, Chile, Peru and Russia) Our sons were very involved in Scouting and each attained the rank of Eagle Scout. All have gone on to receive higher education and become productive citizens in their community. I worked in the corporate world for 20 years traveling the USA and moving my family to various cities in Florida, Alabama and Arizona. My last assignment was acquiring and managing operations spread across the13 western states as the Division VP. After that, we moved to Austin, Texas to start up and own our own business for 12 years, We then sold that business, bought another in Salt Lake City and moved there to be near our children and grandchildren. I like to travel and experience different cultures and people. I enjoy reading biographies, history and business books. I like to keep up with current events and stay involved in the political environment. I also enjoy serving and blessing other people's lives.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised in the Mormon church by parents who loved our Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. They took us to church every week and were very involved. They taught us to pray and to treat everyone with love and respect. During my teenage years there was alot of chaos going on in the world, in my community and in my family. I did as I was taught and turned to God for peace and direction. He answered my prayers in a very personal and sacred way such that I committed to live my life according to His teachings and example. Although I am far from perfect I can say that striving to live the commandments of God and having the church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints to assist me and my family has been a great blessing in my life. It has given me and my family direction, support and encouragement for which I will always be grateful.

How I live my faith

I would say that my life has become centered around my faith. We hold family prayer morning and night. We gather to read the scriptures and spend a moment talking about how each member of the family is doing. We visit the sick and the needy. We help people move or paint their house or whatever is needed. We support dances, plays, and sports events. I served for 5 years as the Bishop of a young single adult congregation at the University of Texas. This was a group of approximately 250 single young men and women between the ages of 18 to 30. As their Bishop, I was responsible for their temporal and spiritual needs as well as providing worship services etc. I must say that our future is in good hands. These young people are well educated, have high moral standards, love God and strive to pattern their lives after Jesus Christ.
