Hi I'm Lisa

I was born in West Germany. I Grew up in Oregon. I am a mother of five beautiful children and I love my life!

About Me

I love life! I am a mother of five beautiful children and I find great joy in watching them develop their relationship with God. I have chosen to be a "stay at home mom" and am grateful that our current situation allows for this as I love being the "anchor" of both my husband and children's busy lives. I love serving in our community and schools. I enjoy playing tennis, running, and occasionally shooting "hoops" with my children. I own a small "at home business" where I design and cut vinyl lettering for various uses such as home decorating, crafts, banners, and signs. I love to create things and have found that I am very good at reproducing things that I admire but can't afford. On that note, I am an avid "couponer" and can never be without my coupon binder when I am out shopping. I love the "hunt" for good bargains and feel so triumphant when I have come home having saved money. I have a degree in Sociology and hope to expand that into a career when my children have left home.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon, not because I was born and raised in this faith, but because I have studied, prayed and received undeniable confirmation that the spiritual course I am on is the course my Father in Heaven has directed me to be on. As I have studied little by little, prayed about specific aspects of the gospel of Christ and how to implement them in my life, I have felt the impressions that I am doing good and feel the love of the Savior in my everyday life. I continue to follow the teachings of Christ as taught by the Mormon church because it provides me with perspective to combat everyday life trials. Life is full of "hills and valleys" and when I am down in the darkest "valley", it is my belief system that provides me with the faith and confidence to know that I can succeed in this life no matter what the trials. The organization of this church also provides me with a "family" that is an extension to my own immediate family. In the church we call each other "brothers" and "Sisters" which one can conclude that when times get tough for one of us, we all pitch in and lend a hand like in a family situation. This yields to close bonds of friendship with each other and even a feeling of stewardship over one another. I know that Christ has restored His church once again on this earth. The Church of Jesus Christ is His church restored now in this day to bless our lives. It is complete with a living prophet to guide and direct. His name is Thomas S. Monson and provides us with spiritual direction along with his twelve apostles. I love the Book of Mormon and have found great treasures of knowledge as I have studied it along side the words of the Bible. I love my life and feel that the doctrines taught within Christ's church has made me feel the love of our Father in Heaven and provides me with hope through our older brother Jesus Christ.

How I live my faith

I have the opportunity to work with young scouts in our church's scouting program. I specifically help the young men who have achieved "Life" rank in the Boy Scout Program then make goals and go on to earning their Eagle Scout Award. I also teach a weekly class for adults that emphasizes one of the sections of study of the gospel of Jesus Christ. I have found that when teaching a class, I learn far more than the "hearer" and in most cases the topic that I was assigned to teach was a topic that I needed to learn so that I could be closer to the Savior Jesus Christ. I also help in the schools and community of my town by volunteering as our Elementary School's PTO President this year. I enjoy organizing people and events but especially the wonderful associations that volunteering provides. I also get the priviledge of being assigned three wonderful women in my church to go visit each month. I love the friendship that I build over time with them, even though we may be very different, I get the opportunity to love and serve someone I didn't know at first and later love and adore. Those visits become very special to me.
