Hi I'm Don

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am 72 years old and have been a Mormon since 1968 and retired in 2002 as a heavy equipment mechanic / welder my hobbies include gardening, building things, I am a Ham radio operator,my calling in the church is commuciations specialist and enjoy being part of a team that conducts tests for others to become hams and upgrade current licensse. One of the ways to keep my talents sharp My wife and I support bike tours where bycycle riders travel Aprox 100 miles so ham radio operators are set up at aid stations about every 10 miles along the course to relay needs of riders to the people that can get aid to those in need. I feel I must share an experance I had. It was durning a stake conference Elder Tom Perry ( Quoum of the 12 Apostles) came down the isle I tried to get up from my wheel chair a large hand rested on my shoulder you guessed it. It was elder Perry. The feeling that ran through my body was a warm feeling and the pain in my knees was gone for about 3 days. If I had any doubts about the power of pristhood which Elder Perry had they were dispelled at that moment.

Why I am a Mormon

My wife was raised Catholic and I do not go to any church regulary, When we desided to get married her prist told us I had to join the Catholic Church and to do that I had to take lessons from the prist. I just could not buy what they rere selling, Conduct of people I worked with and for just didn't meet my standards. My wifes doctor was a Mormon and led her to look into the LDS church and I worked with Mormons and liked what I saw ( work ethics and personal behavor) so when wife asked if I would let the missionarys come I said OK and the missionarys came and gave us the lessons and I felt this way the way to go so we were baptized. I have nor regreted this move. I know the The Church of Jesus of Latter Day Saints is the true church.

How I live my faith

To start with it sounds like a hard religion to live, but once you learn and join the lord steps in and every thing is possible. The fellowship makes going to our meetings a new learning experance. By living the word of widsom makes enjoying life better. By using prist hood to give blessings this makes life for out family better. Do not think that all we ask for blessings that they happen right away the Lord has his time and reasons for bestowing them. Sometime it for our own best interest. In our prayers we ask for understanding in why these happen, we have to do our part and the Lord guides us if we just listen.
