Hi I'm Heather

Musician, reader, dreamer, mormon.

About Me

Hi, I'm Heather! I'm currently at university in Idaho studying to become a high school teacher. I LOVE to read. Some of my favorite authors are Shakespeare, P.G. Wodehouse, Vicor Hugo, Suzanne Collins, Lemony Snicket, J.K. Rowling, and the Bronte sisters. I also love watching movies and tv shows and trivia and all things broadway. I play the piano and sing in choirs, and I performed in musicals throughout my teens. I enjoy meeting new people and sharing experiences and differences. Hearing someone else's point of view is always fascinating, even if I don't agree with it. I try to be very open minded about things, which helps me make friends out of people that are different from me. I love speaking Spanish and learning about latin culture, someday I hope to travel to South America!

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up as a member of the church. My parents are both members, and all of my siblings are active in the church. But that is not why I am a Mormon. I'm a Mormon because I believe that it is the only church with the fullness of the gospel on this earth. I believe in Jesus Christ and his atoning sacrifice for us. I believe in a Heavenly Father who loves us and wants us to be happy and to return to live with him for eternity. I believe that Joseph Smith was the prophet who brought the fullness of the gospel back to the earth. I believe that there is a prophet on the earth today, and that there will be until the end of the world. I know that Jesus Christ will come again, and that there is life after death. I know that I can repent of my sins and be forgiven, and that I can be a better person every single day. To me, being Mormon isn't about the culture or going to activities every week. It's about being the best person I can be so that I can have all the blessings that entails. I know my Heavenly Father loves me and wants me to be happy. It's not ever easy, but it is so worth it.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by trying to be the best person I can be. I have been the president of several young women's groups throughout high school. I also participate in the Community Emergency Response Team because I want to be able to serve and help the members of my community better. I also live my faith by doing service whenever the opportunity presents itself, whether it's going to clean up and weed a park or helping my mom make dinner at night. I have participated in and helped organized several big events for different youth groups in our church.
