Hi I'm Curtis

I'm a Mormon. Did you know the word "Mormon" is just a nickname, but I'm glad to be one! It gives me purpose in life.

About Me

I recently moved to Arizona, after living in the same community for nearly 60 years, where I was born and raised. It's been a great experience and I love to meet new people and the challenge of new circumstances. My career has always been in business and I was recently hired to be a store clerk in a local small business. I love to do gardening, landscaping, wood work, but especially like to be home with my wife and family.

Why I am a Mormon

Some people may think if you are born and raised a "Mormon", that is why you are one. I want you to know, at some point in a persons life, being raised in the Church is not enough. Every person that belongs to the Church, must find out for themselves if it is true or not. That is what happened to me. I came to the point in my life that the teachings and influence of my parents and family was not enough. I needed to know, from God, if the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and the Book of Mormon were true, or if it was just a good thing or a hoax. I decided first of all that I needed to put some effort in finding out. I earnestly read the Book of Mormon, thinking about what it was saying and what it ment. At the same time, I prayed more sincerely to God, then I had ever done before and asked Him specificly if it was true or not ... I really wanted to know, I felt I had to know for myself. I think the answers for these type of questions can come in various ways, but they all have the same thing is in common and that is it's from God and He will let you know and you will know way deep down inside, with out any doubt. For me, after reading and praying about this for a few weeks, I was nearly finished reading the Book of Mormon and something ... I call it the "Spirit" came over me with such force, from the top of my head to the bottom of my feet, that it made me feel that I wanted to shout "It's True! It's True! and I know the Church and the Book of Mormon are true". That happened over 40 years ago and many times I have felt that same "Spirit" inspiring and guiding me during my life, but I have never felt I needed to have that confirmation if the Church is true or not.

How I live my faith

My religion, faith and church is everything to me. Like most anyone else in the world, we face many challenges and hardships. I have had my share as well, but the one thing that has helped me the most to get by, is the teachings and the blessings of the gospel. These blessings come as we serve. I have served in many administrative positions, but the ones I enjoy the most are teaching the youth. I have taught teenagers and college age students and I think I enjoy that the most.
