Hi I'm Tami

Married to my best friend. Mother to 7.Finding joy in my journey. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

This is the busiest time of my life, or so I keep reminding myself when I think it couldn't get any more full! In between all of the challenging and wonderful things I get to do as a mom, I also love: photography, baking, planning events, reading and travel. My life is full of teenagers, middle schoolers and one elementary child. Our house if bursting at the seams with our kids' friends, laughter, trials, tears and joy! My daily life is a whirlwind of activities, driving, listening, encouraging and teaching. My favorite parts of the week are scripture study, church on Sunday, sitting around the dinner table with my family, and the many small moments when we bring the gospel into whatever we are talking about (and we talk a lot!) My greatest joy is to see my children make choices that bring them closer to the Savior. I am a part time student at the community college, working for my undergrad. My life goal is to get my Masters and be a counselor, helping others to find joy and peace in their lives.

Why I am a Mormon

Why is a great question! Understanding the Why's in life and what motivates us to do what we do is one of my favorite subjects. My mom joined the church when I was very young, and I don't remember a time when I didn't go to church. My older brother died just before he turned 8. Through the teachings of my parents, I already understood parts of the Plan of Salvation. I knew my brother was in the spirit world and that someday I would see him again. I knew, at that young age, that life does not end when we die just as it did not begin the day we were born. We are children of a loving Heavenly Father, and He has a plan for us. I have never questioned where we came from or Why we are here. Having a witness of the plan of salvation all my life has helped me remember why I live the Gospel everyday, even when it seems hard. My knowledge of our purpose here on Earth sees me through the difficult times in life, because I know that we are on a journey back to Our Father in Heaven. It will not always be easy, it will require effort and faith on our part, but it is worth it. The joy and beauty that fill this life remind me that my Father in Heaven loves me, and is aware of my needs! The closer I live to Him here in this life, the more joy and peace I find. As I express gratitude to my Father in Heaven for my blessings, the more I am able to see that living the Gospel brings me an abudnance of His love.

How I live my faith

I love working with youth! Next to being a wife and mom, it's the thing that brings greatest joy to my heart! In my current assignment, I get to work with leaders of youth and help plan events for young men and women ages 12-18. There are so many men and women in our community who lovingly watch over and guide the youth in our area. They inspire me through their commitment of time and talents they willingly share every week. All teens need role models and adults in their life who reflect back the values they are being taught in their home, who believe in them and their ability to make righteous choices, and the youth programs fulfill that need. I am delighted to be a part of events like Young Women's camp in the summer, Youth Conferences and dances. I love being with the youth, they reflect the light of Christ in their lives. It is amazing to see them stand for what they know is right and be examples of faith and virtue in our society. They inspire me to be a more devoted disciple of Christ.

Do you really believe there is a prophet like Moses alive today?

Tami
Yes! Having a living prophet on the Earth, who knows and understands what God would have us do is essential to me. We live in times when the views in the world on families, marriage, faith, and God have changed dramatically from previous generations. I am grateful to know that no matter the turns the world takes, we will always have direct access to the will of God. There has never been a time in history when all people were united in one great understanding. Differing philosophies, parts of the truth, and the ideas of individuals all mash together. Having a living prophet gives me comfort in knowing God's truth is here for us on the Earth, today, and we can follow his counsel. That said, I know that everyone of us can receive answers for ourselves about the truthfulness of the Gospel and the words spoken by our prophet. It is an amazing plan! God never forces us to believe or act on that belief. Yet he provides us with a clear path back to Him! Show more Show less
