Hi I'm Spencer

I'm a software developer, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I create software for a living; sometimes, I call myself a professional nerd. I have two daughters and a son. My family is the most important thing in my life. Although my time for hobbies is limited, I enjoy flying radio controlled model airplanes, especially hand launched gliders. I also enjoy biking, and during the summer I often bike to and from work. I like playing the guitar (although I'm a bit rusty). I even built an electric guitar from scratch.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in the church, but that's not why I'm a Mormon. I don't accept things without questioning them; it's part of my nature. As a teenager, I began to wonder whether the teachings of the church were true. Then, I decided to do as the prophet Moroni instructs in the Book of Mormon: to ask God whether the Book of Mormon is true. I received an answer that changed my life. I felt the power of the Holy Ghost, with a strength that I had never felt before and that I have felt few times since. I could not deny then nor now that God does live and that the Book of Mormon contains His words.

How I live my faith

Being a Mormon has broadened my horizons through the service I have given others. I served a two year mission for my church in Brazil, where I learned to speak Portuguese and to help others come closer to Christ. I have taught many Sunday school classes for children. I have also been involved in the cub scout program. These experiences have prepared me to be a better father.
