Hi I'm Devin

I live in Colorado, I am a Professional Firefighter, a husband, a father of 4, and I am a Mormon

About Me

I was born and raised in Southern California, living close to the beach, surfing and hanging out with friends and family. Growing up I spent most of my time running cross country, running marathons, track, and playing volleyball. I graduated High School in 1995, and left to serve a mission in 1996. I served in the Spokane Washington Mission and loved every minute of it. When I got home I was re-introduced to my High School love and we were married in 1999 in Los Angeles Temple surrounded by our family and friends. We have 4 kids who keep us very busy. All of them are just under 2 yrs apart. We moved to Colorado 9 yrs ago in pursuit of my dream job. 4 1/2 yrs ago I was able to get my dream job as a Firefighter. I love being able to serve others on a daily basis, both day and night and help others in their time of need. I deal with fires, car accidents, medical calls, and yes believe or not....I have been asked to get a cat out of the tree. The Fire Service continues to teach me about serving others, and the importance of doing the right thing, even when people are not looking. I know that will never make millions but I can say that I am happy and I love my job. My job has been great for my family and for my kids. They are able to see their dad do something that he loves to do as well as he importance of hard work and service. They love coming to the fire house and hanging out with my crew. Its just one big happy family!

Why I am a Mormon

Growing up I was raised in the LDS Church, however a conversion for all members comes sometime in their lives. Growing up I was active in the church and having lived by the principals I know it kept me out of a lot trouble. I liked how it gave me boundaries that would keep me out of trouble but also gave me the freedom to still live a normal life and decide who I was. When I graduated High School I decided to serve a mission and share the same blessings that I received as a child. While on my mission I really gained a solid testimony of the restored church and loved sharing it with other people. When I returned home from my mission I married the love of my life. My wife and I grew up together and had known each other since 7th grade. We decided to get married in the Los Angeles Temple in 1999 and were sealed together for time and all eternity. The principal in the church for being sealed together not just for time but for forever is an amazing principal restored to all people. I have been able to tell my co-workers why I live a clean life by not smoking, drinking and participating in other activities, and most important they respect me for who I am and the choices that I have made. I know by living by the gospel of Jesus Christ I am able to have a clear mind and teach my kids the love of our Heavenly Father.

How I live my faith

Like I said above I am a firefighter and I love serving the community. Growing up I was involved in the Boy Scout program. The Boy Scout Program taught me very important lessons in life and how I should try to live my life. One of those things was hard work. My father always taught me that "life was not going to be given to me on a silver spoon and to make sure that I worked for it everyday". I think that that one principle in life taught me about how I should serve others, as well as what kind of work ethic I should have. I love going to work everyday and being called on when others are having the worst day of their lives. We work hard as a crew and make sure that we become "Masters of our Craft". This work ethic has also taught me to be a volunteer in the community. I volunteer my time as a Boy Scout Leader. I am the Den Leader of the Webelos in our Pack. We have so much fun as a group and I love seeing the boys grow in the Scouting Program and develop that love for Scouts that I have. I am able to share personal experiences and help these young men make right choices in life. I live my faith by being myself, and enjoy everyday that God has blessed me with. I love being able to give back to others, including ones who gave so much to me growing up. I look back on my community leaders, Boy Scout Leaders, and most important my mentor.. who is a Firefighter also, and see the changes that they helped me make in my life. Now its my turn, and I love it!
