Hi I'm David

Life is a beautiful thing!

About Me

Hi, my name is David. I love life! Everything about it! One of my most favorite things to do, is to be outside doing anything and everything. There is so much to do in this world, that I try not to waste too much time inside any longer than I need to. Whether I am working, out surfing, in the desert dirtbiking, on the mountain snowboarding, or in the forest backpacking, I love being outside and using my body, which God has blessed me with, to go out and experience amazing things. This world, which God created for us, is such an amazing place. God loves us so much, and He desires for us to be happy. As I have followed His commandments, and put my faith in Him and His son, Jesus Christ, I have found the most happiness. The commandments of God are not made to hold us back and restrict us. Quite the opposite. When we think of a kite, what do we think makes it fly. Many people would say "the wind", when actually it is the string. Without the string the kite might take off into the air for a little while, without any direction or stability, but that is ok because it is still flying. But without the string, it cannot fly forever, and it comes crashing to the ground. The string gives us stability and control of the kite. Now, think of the kite as "us" and the string as "commandments". The things that we may think are holding us back (the string) are in reality the things that are making us fly. I know that is true because I have seen it happen in my life.

Why I am a Mormon

The reason that I am a Mormon is because of one simple thing. I have read The Book of Mormon, I have pondered the message that is contained in it, and I have prayed to God and asked him if it is true. The message that we share is that God has reached out in love, once again, and revealed the fulness of His gospel. He has called a prophet, just as in times of old, to lead and guide the Saviors church here on the earth. Jesus Christ is at the head of His church. God has once again trusted man with the authority to act in His name (also known as the priesthood) to perform sacred ordinances, such as baptism and confirmation, that require that priesthood. This is a bold statement. It was a bold statement to me. But all of this, and much more, weigh on one little book, which is, The Book of Mormon. That book is either true, or it is not. If it is true, then the message that we share is true. If it is not a true book, then the message we share isn't true. The Book of Mormon is proof of the reality of this message. There is an invitation in the introduction to the book that states "We invite all men everywhere to read the Book of Mormon, to ponder in their hearts the message it contains, and then to ask God, the Eternal Father, in the name of Christ if the book is true. Those who pursue this course and ask in faith will gain a testimony of its truth and divinity by the power of the Holy Ghost." I promise you that it is true. It's the reason I am a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by following the commandments and being the type of person my Heavenly Father wants me to be. In 1 Timothy 4:12, the apostle Paul teaches us this, "Let no man despise thy youth; but be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity." That is one of my favorite scriptures. As we do our part, and strive to be "an example of the believers", we will be able to help those around us. As a follower of Jesus Christ, we should do our best to do what He did. He was a great example to us in all things. The way that I live my faith is by striving to follow His perfect example. I am not perfect, and I make mistakes all the time, but all that He expects of us is to do our best.
