Hi I'm Jennie

I am a mother and grandmother. I love horses, children, travel, teaching & volunteering. I own a business and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have been married for 36 years to a wonderful man. We were married in the Oakland California LDS temple. We have 6 children of our own and the blessing of having a 7th who joined our family 5 years ago. 4 of our children are married and we have 6 grandchildren so far and look forward to welcoming many more into our family. Being a grandmother is the greatest! I love being a mother but being a grandmother is more fun than I ever expected! I love horses and am currently volunteering with an equestrian vaulting club. I also volunteer with a therapeutic riding facility, in the Seattle Temple and as an early morning seminary teacher for high school students. I enjoy teaching and serving wherever and however I can. I love the outdoors and in my free time I like to horseback ride, camp and hike with my grandchildren. I also enjoy traveling to other countries and experiencing the lives and cultures of our Heavenly Father's children in other parts of this beautiful world.

Why I am a Mormon

I was blessed to be born into a family were I was taught the Gospel of Jesus Christ from my birth. I have pioneer heritage on one side and a brave grandmother on the other who left her native land and family when they could not accept her decision to be baptized. I am grateful for my heritage in the church but it is not why I am a Mormon. I belong to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints because I have prayed to know if it is true and have received, many times, the confirming witness of the spirit that it is. Living the principles of the gospel and trying to keep the commandments makes my life happier. I am not perfect by a long shot and my life is not always easy but living the principles of the gospel makes life better and brings me peace and a perspective on life's challenges that I would not have otherwise.

How I live my faith

I have had the blessing of serving in many different capacities in the church and my favorites have involved teaching. I especially enjoy teaching children and youth. I am currently serving as an early morning seminary teacher which means that I teach the scriptures to teenagers at 6AM before they go to school. I love it! I have a love of the scriptures and learning about God's dealings with his children and I enjoy the chance to share this with the youth. I love attending the temple and appreciate the peace I find within those holy walls. When we travel I love the opportunity to attend temples in different parts of the world, and to see that God is no respecter of persons and that the blessings of the gospel are available to all.

How can I know Mormonism is true?

Jennie
The only way you can know is to ask. Pray to our Father in Heaven and ask him if what you have learned about the church is true. Ask if Joseph Smith was the prophet who restored the gospel of Jesus Christ. Ask if the Book of Mormon is a true book and the word of God. If you ask in humility and with a sincere desire to know the truth you will receive a witness through the power of the Holy Ghost which will tell you in your heart and in your mind that it is true.
