Hi I'm Kim Weinreb

I'm a mom of a special needs child. I run a support group. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a mom of two great kids and spend my days driving them to and from school and one to and from therapy. After working with special needs adults while in college, I remember praying in my heart saying, "Lord, please don't let me have a child with special needs. I just don't think I could handle it." Little did I know what the Lord actually had in store for me.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in the church and have always had a testimony although at times it is weak. I knew that I wanted to raise my kids in the church so that they would have a solid foundation on which to live their lives. I'm a Mormon because the teachings and doctrine are true. I know Jesus is the Christ, that He died for you and me and that we are here on this earth to follow His example and to help and serve those around us.

How I live my faith

I strive every day to try and do my best. I help run a support group for parents of special needs children in my community. I try to help parents of newly diagnosed children navigate their way through their new life. My son is 12 and has had issues prior to his birth and being able to help someone is great. Your circle of friends grows larger when you serve and help. I currently serve as the secretary in our ward's Primary (children's church program) and l love being with the children. They have such strong spirits and are so close to the Lord. They teach me a lot. I also love the church's Visiting Teaching program which assigns women in the church others to care for. I make monthly visits to 5 women to visit, help, serve and share a gospel message. It truly is the Lord's work: taking care of others.

Do Mormons worship Joseph Smith?

Kim Weinreb
No. We honor and respect Joseph Smith as the person who ushered in the restoration of the gospel of Jesus Christ and we revere him as a former prophet of our church but we worship God the Eternal Father and His son, Jesus Christ. Show more Show less
