Hi I'm Jerry

I'm a life long Mormon, born in southeastern Idaho.

About Me

I am a married (47 years) father of 6 children and I have 19 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. I am an entrepreneur and have started and owned several different businesses in my working career. My family is the focus of my life.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into the church, but fell away from activity in my teens. When I was in my mid 30's I began to recognize that something was missing in my life. At the age of 37, I returned to activity in the church and have spent the past 30 years living a life of joy and happiness that I had never known before. The Spirit has born clear witness to me that Jesus is the Christ and that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is His restored Church on the earth today. He lives and He directs the work today through modern-day Prophets and Apostles, who hold the priesthood authority and all of the keys that are necessary for all of God's children to one day return to him. I am eternally grateful for that knowledge and for the countless blessings it brings into my life.

How I live my faith

The focus of my life is my family and my church. For the past 30 years I have served in many capacities in the Church. I have served as a scoutmaster and young men youth leader. I have served as a Sunday School teacher and I have served in major leadership responsibilities at both the stake and ward levels. I recently served for 5 years as Bishop of our local congregation, and I am currently serving with my wife as church missionaries in the Addiction Recovery Program of the Church. I'm also privileged to serve as a home teacher, assigned to visit monthly in the homes of church members to provide spiritual and temporal support to them. I receive great joy and countless blessings as a result of the many hours I spend in church service.

Are Mormons Christians?

We absolutely are Christians. The name of our church is “The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints”. Everything we believe and everything we do is focused around our belief in the divine nature of Jesus Christ, the literal Son of God and the Savior and Redeemer of the world. Probably the major reason Christians of other faiths claim we are not Christians is because we do not believe in the Holy Trinity. We believe God, the Father, His Son, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Ghost, are part of the Godhead, but are 3 separate and distinct individual beings. John 3:16 “For God so loved the world, that he gave His only begotten Son, that whosever believeth hi Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” (From the Book of Mormon) 2 Nephi 25:23,26 “. . . .for we know that it is by grace that we are saved, after all we can do. . . . And we talk of Christ, we rejoice in Christ, we preach of Christ, we prophesy of Christ, and we write according to our prophecies, that our children may know to what source they may look for a remission of their sins.” I testify that Jesus Christ is the Savior and Redeemer of the World, and it is only through Him that we may one day return to God, our Father, who created us.
