Hi I'm Raul

I'm from Bogotá, Colombia, where I live in a happily way. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a family man, happily married with 2 beautiful daughters. I work in a public administrative office, in the accounting section. I actually studied logistics, but I like to take the chance to work on any opportunity life gives me. I even worked at a bakery store. I love playing board games, video games, sharing time with my family and friends, browsing the internet looking for technology news. I love computers, portable devices, and everything that has to do with technology.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born in a mormon family, which included my siblings, parents, grandmother, uncles, aunts, cousins, etc. It wasn't really hard to go to church when I was a child, even when I became a teenager. But as I grew older I realized that church was more a habit than a well thought lifestyle. I took seminaries classes because I had friends in the church. I always heard that the church was the only true one, but I did not know any other church. And then I thought that I could have been deceived all my life. So I decided to look for my own very knowledge about the church, religion and God. I started learning about other religions (especially the big ones like catholic, islam, Buddhist, hindu, etc). I studied history to learn about the origin of each one, and why was it that the world was some kind of divided because of beliefs and apparently geographically too. After that I decided to do what I was taught to do all my life: read the Book of Mormon and ponder and pray about it. Every religion has some scriptures considered sacred, and the word of God. But the Book of Mormon was the most clear book I have then read. So I prayed and received an answer to it. Not only I knew that it was a correct and true book, but it also promised to be a guide to my life. Since then I started to look at my life as the result of living a christian life. I had so much to be thankful. When I heard the news and the problems the world faces every day, I doubted about a God in heaven. But the Gospel of Jesus Christ makes sense in every way. It can be felt in the heart. It brings peace. Is the best expression of life itself. And it is all thanks to Jesus Christ. Just learn about His life and teachings, and you'll know and feel that there is not a better way. In fact, there is no other way. He lives and works today for my happiness and your happiness.

How I live my faith

The best way to live the Gospel of Jesus Christ is thinking about Him always. Remembering what you have learned about Him throughout your life. I remember to be taught about service and helping others. Nevertheless, it's something everyone has to live for themselves. I serve in my ward as a clerk, and I love to be useful to the church and my brethren. Normally I spend most of the time serving in the church on Sunday, but sometimes I go in the evening once a week when I need to do something more. I try to go to the Temple almost every week (as I live close enough), but it's hard when you have little kids. I try to think about my Savior as often as possible, and I'm teaching my daughters to pray everyday, and to meet in family home evening once a a week. I always think of others as my brothers and sister, and that I need to help them in any way, as we are family.
