Hi I'm Lisa

I'm a Mormon. I live in Colorado. I am currently learning to be a Medical Transcriptionist.

About Me

I am a fairly recent convert to the church. I was baptized 5 years ago, the day before my birthday. I am the only mormon in my family. My husband and I have been married for 18 years and have 3 beautiful girls. I recently stopped working in retail after 21 years. I am currently learning online to be become a Medical Transcriptionist. I want to be able to work from home so I can have more time and involvement with my girls. If I actually do have any spare time, I like to spend it working out in my garden. It's a slow work in progress. I also enjoy reading as much as I can about the church and its history.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised a Catholic, but didn't go to church that often. My husband has been a member of the church all of his life. I was well aware of his beliefs when we were dating. I didn't always believe everything that he talked about, but I was always willing to hear him out. After we were married and I got to know his family more, I would always enjoy talking with my father-in-law. He has a great knowledge of the gospel. He would usually end up talking about the deep, "make-you-think" parts. It was amazing how much I didn't know about the gospel. The day that changed my life forever was the day that my father-in-law let me borrow the movie "The Work and the Glory." Even though some of the movie was fiction, the portrayal of Joseph Smith struck something inside of me. It was then that I knew that Joseph Smith was a Prophet of God and that the Mormon church is the true church. It finally made sense. Why shouldn't we have Prophets today? If we had them so long ago, we should have them in our day. Heavenly Father would never forsake His childen. After that day, I immediately started reading The Book of Mormon. I will always remember the spirit I felt during that time. It was so strong and so many truth's were revealed to me through it. I will be forever grateful to Heavenly Father for sending the right people into my life so that they could help put me upon a path that would lead me to Him.

How I live my faith

I have been teaching the children in my ward about the gospel for the past 3 years. I thoroughly enjoy seeing the children grow in the gospel, just as I am also. I have been teaching a group of 5 boys aged 9-10 years for the last 2 years. Being boys, they can get a little rambunctious. But, they have that wonderful side as well. There is one boy in particular that has touched my life, and I must have touched his life as well. I think the reason I am still teaching the same boys after 2 years, is because of this one boy . Heavenly Father has brought us together to learn and grow from each other. This boy and his family are also recent converts. When they first started coming to church, this boy did not want to come to class. He would sit out in the hall and cry. As time went on, he started coming to class. He didn't want to participate yet, but would act out to get attention. It was trying on us all. But within months, he started sitting reverently in class and would be actively participating in our discussions. He is turning into such a wonderful boy. I notice the way he interacts with his 2 younger brothers and can see the love he has for them. I am so grateful that I have been able to be a part of his spiritual growth, and that of all the other children I am privileged to teach. It brings me such joy to watch them as they find their path to the Savior.
