Hi I'm joan

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a mother, a grandmother and a great grandmother. My husband and I were married in the Mesa, Arizona temple in 1961 so we have been married for 50 years. We have 6 children, 10 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren (soon to be 6). All of our children (not grandchildren) live within an hour from us so we have family parties once a month to celebrate birthdays. They are truly precious to us. My husband is not active in church activities so I go by myself or take other sisters, either single or in the same circumstance. I enjoy the meetings and attending the Temple. I enjoy walking, country music and handwork. I try to keep up with my children/grandchildren on facebook. I have learned to do a lot on the computer, I download pictures and send them to be printed, I keep up with e-mail and search the internet for information. I do a lot of house and yard work and try to keep my surroundings neat and clean.

Why I am a Mormon

I was was baptised a member of the Mormon Church when I was 8. We went to all our meetings and I was expected to marry an Mormon and have children (which was fine with me). It was not until I had two little girls that I began reading the Book of Mormon. While reading I did experience the 'burning in the bosom' that the scriptures talk about. That confirmed for me that the Gospel of Jesus Christ had truly been restored to the earth. I continued to attend my meetings with my children and serve in the church. My testimony has grown over the years and I have had spiritual experiences throughout my life that have strenthened me.

How I live my faith

I serve in the presidency of our women's organization. We teach the gospel from a women's perspective and provide opportunities for growth and fellowship. I have been called to visit 2 sisters every month and have felt the tender mercies of the Lord as I have been in their homes and felt of their spirits. I also serve in the Denver Temple and have gained a testimony of the saving ordinances that are performed there. I know the Lord loves His children because He has provided a way for us to be together as families after this earth life.
