Hi I'm Shannon

I dearly love my husband and family. I'm a mother, a wife, and a teacher. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a mother, a wife, and a teacher. I love my family very much. We enjoy lake activities and swimming, nature walks, parks, barbecues, and playing with our dog. We like movies. We like singing or playing instruments, including the piano. I'm also interested in family history and preserving family photos. I like reading, learning about home improvement and gardening, traveling and other cultures.

Why I am a Mormon

My parents joined the LDS church while in Germany when I was a baby. My dad was reading Güthe and interested in questions about the purpose of life and why we are here. My parents taught me values such as the importance of family, education, faith, and service to others. As a youth, I prayed and felt God's great love and concern for me. He answered my prayers and gave me courage to choose good friends and resolve to set worthy goals. I studied the scriptures including the Bible and Book of Mormon. I felt great peace as I read the Book of Mormon. I love reading of the coming of Christ to America and His teachings there. I love reading of the faith and love of those prophets. I know that book is true. I also love studying the Bible, such as about the tender mercies of Jesus Christ, the writings of Paul, or the symbolism and prophesies in the book of Revelations. Our family loves visiting church history sites such as in Palmyra, New York; Nauvoo, Illinois; and Utah. I love our holy temples and know that is the House of God. It is a great privilege to be in the temple, to feel God's Spirit, and be sealed to our family for eternity. I love my family.

How I live my faith

How I live my faith is in the everyday choices I make. I try to show kindness to others and follow the example of Jesus Christ. I look out for others in need. I like interacting with kids and families in our community through our schools. I volunteer with our local swim team. At our LDS branch, I am a youth Sunday school teacher. I love teaching this age-group, their enthusiasm, and questions. We visit other women and families in our visiting teaching program. I play the organ for the congregation. I also like to sing in choir.
